Yuga hired a freelancer for the BAKC logo, sparking outrage.
Controversy is hitting the NFT world as Yuga Labs, the creator of the popular Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC) NFTs, is accused of copyright infringement. It all started when Twitter user @Jdotcolombo pointed out the striking similarities between the BAKC logo and a design created by Easy Drawing Guides in April 2021. Easy Drawing Guides was quick to claim intellectual property rights over the image, saying it was their “ original drawing” and protected by their terms and conditions.
This has sparked a heated debate about intellectual property rights in the NFT world. The BAKC logo is an integral part of the NFT and its alleged similarity to the Easy Drawing Guide’s design raises questions about the originality and authenticity of the NFTs.
Bridge @BoredApeYC @yugalabs what a damn joke bahahahahaha you have some explaining to do. 4/5/21 and your kennels came out 6/21 and you went and trademarked this skull. Are you all right, or have you bumped your head? pic.twitter.com/FJigzJgBr8

Yuga Labs founder Greg Solano, who goes by the handle @CryptoGarga on Twitter, took to the social media platform to address the issue. In a series of tweets, he stated that the situation was “news to us” and that Yuga Labs was investigating the matter. He also revealed that Yuga Labs had used a freelancer for the BAKC logo, which may have led to the alleged copyright infringement.
The Kennel Club has donated more than $1 million to charity
Although the allegations of copyright infringement are serious, it is worth noting that Yuga Labs has responded quickly and is working to rectify the situation. In his tweets, Solano stated that they will change the logo and update it on their page and ask marketplaces to change as well. He also emphasized that the BAKC NFTs were meant to raise money for charity and that he was proud of the fact that they had raised over $1 million for charity.
The controversy surrounding the BAKC NFT logo highlights the importance of intellectual property rights in the NFT world. While Yuga Labs may have made a mistake, it is commendable that they are taking responsibility for their actions and working to make things right. The NFT community will be watching closely to see how this situation is resolved and what it means for the future of NFTs.
Saw the BAKC logo claims today. This was news to us and we are still investigating the situation. Have contacted the freelancer we hired for that design and Easy Drawing Guides. We are going to change the logo and update it on our website / ask marketplaces to change as…
