Web3 is hosting a Viking-Crypto raid with a unique gamified NFT minting experience
Gaming has become one of the most prolific industries impacted by blockchain technology. From in-game transactions to non-fungible tokens (NFTs), the gaming space has taken full advantage of blockchain development. Blockchain games account for nearly half of blockchain activity in early 2023, and are the market’s leading Web3 transformation.
DappRadar’s industry report shows that more than 1.15 million users are actively using their wallets for blockchain gaming, boosting the Web3 gaming-related activities in the region of 7.4 billion transactions. As Web3 games become a mainstream attraction, investments in the blockchain space also follow user interest. According to another report, over $7.6 billion was raised by Web3 games and metaverse projects in 2022.
The rapidly growing environment of Web3 games enables projects to mix different aspects of technology and entertainment to achieve unique results. As NFTs become a core part of the Web3 space, blockchain games seek to use them in different ways to provide interesting experiences. Maxelium Games, a Norwegian game development company, aims to act as a bridge between the AAA production quality of the gaming world and the innovation and scalability of Web3.
Viking-Crypto invasion on Web3
The Oslo-based team includes 70 developers in 10 countries working to build a “gamified NFT minting experience” for players. After years of development, Maxelium Games built Viking Crypto Punks, a Viking themed NFT token experience game. Players will have access to the game in the second half of 2023, and will be able to customize their characters and make different action choices while exploring the story set in Middle-earth.

To accompany the game, Maxelium is also launching its first NFT collection, The Pioneers, which will mainly serve as an entry point into the world of Viking Crypto Punk. Web3 players will embark on a “gamified NFT minting experience” in Viking Crypto Punks, where they can produce over 60 million NFTs during a seven-hour minting adventure.
The game will be limited to 2 million copies, and owners of collectibles from The Pioneers NFT set will receive a free copy. On top of the core gaming experience, each license comes with a Quantelica ecosystem decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) token.
A whole new ecosystem for blockchain players
Built by Maxelium Games, Quantelica is a technology ecosystem tailored to the needs of Web3 gaming. When it launches, it will feature a marketplace, a community, unique NFT collections, games to earn money, and solid incentives for players. “The platform represents something completely new and emerges as a Web3 gaming ecosystem,” said Maxelium Games CEO Elijah Elystrand.
“The Quantelica platform will be able to offer third-party game integration, innovative software development kits, unique NFT capabilities and will become an important supplier to the modern Web3 gaming industry.”
Elystrand highlighted that Sergey Golubkin, a game producer with an extensive AAA production background, joined the company’s ranks as CEO. Golubkin is a well-known name in the video game industry, with his portfolio as a producer including AAA video games such as Tom Clancy’s The Division, Just Dance and Steep to name a few.
Konstantin Mortensen, co-founder and community manager of Maxelium Games, shared the current progress on the Quantelica platform: “We expect to engage with a large number of players and have already started building a community of like-minded people. We will shortly be kick-starting the Quantelica ecosystem with Pioneers – our first NFT collection.”
The Web3 gaming company announced that after three successful funding rounds, it made agreements with Morten Klein, CEO of the Norwegian tech and e-commerce investor Klein Group. “I consider this project to be both promising and exciting,” said Klein, explaining that Web3 gaming is one of Klein Group’s areas of focus. “We will be involved as an active owner, both in the future development and in the design of the way forward.”
