Upland CEO unveils ‘Metaverse Super-App’ to world leaders at Blockchain Hub Davos 2023

This week marks World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual meeting and Blockchain Hub Davos 2023 which runs simultaneously 16.-19. January in Davos, Switzerland.

The event describes itself as the “Epicenter of blockchain collaboration”, and puts Web3 leaders in close proximity to the world’s financial leaders of the WEF.

It’s been a tough year for blockchain, last noted FTX FTT/USD collapse, so the summit has a lot to address in the Web3 community and beyond.

The summit divides the thematic focus over three days:

  • Day 1 focused on restoring trust in digital assets. Citing the “myriad challenges of the past year”, the summit addresses responsible regulation and ensures that digital assets will continue to evolve.
  • Day 2 addresses the growing use of blockchain technology even during the bear market and the maturing of enterprise-class technology to reach wider mainstream audiences.
  • Day 3 focuses on an optimistic note as attendees look forward to what they’re building “and the key trends they’re seeing, from advances in gaming to the development of NFTs.”

Benzinga interviewed the Davos speaker and Upland co-managing director Dirk Luethwhich presents several panels, including “A Fireside Chat With Industry Luminaries, Metaverse as a Force for Good” and “The Future of the Metaverse.”

Leuth’s goal in Davos is clear: to communicate metaverse potential in front of a united audience of world leaders in sustainability and social impact.

“I’m here to advocate for the vision of the open metaverse and what I see as its two focus areas for 2023: standardization and platformization,” Lueth said. “I present Upland’s vision of the metaverse superapp, where a virtual world grows beyond entertainment and becomes the platform where people manage their digital lives.”

Leuth speaks highly of the WEF-adjacent event as an opportunity to speak with leaders who set economic policy and who are outside the blockchain community.

“At Davos, web3 is not an echo chamber. On the same stage as web3 founders, you have managers who Jean-Noël BarrotFrench Minister for Digital Transition, Filippo GrandiUnited Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and Daniel Rischprime minister i Liechtenstein“, said Leuth. “I’m most looking forward to speaking with sustainability and social impact leaders and giving them a new perspective on web3 and how it can be used as a force for good – especially in areas where we have a bad representative as an industry.”

Upland, a metaverse platform geomapped to Earth using open source technology based on EOS EOS/USD blockchain, wants its so-called “Super-App” to be the evolution of social media as a place to manage your assets and business, as well as a place to interact with brands and build community.
