Transforming FinTech in Leeds: Lessons from US and Singaporean Models | Events | Insights and events
Join #TeamSPB speakers Paul Anderson and Sir Roger Marsh OBE DL and others for the Leeds Financial & FinTech Law Conference 2023 on 11 May 2023.
Hosted by the Center for Business Law and Practice (CBLP) in collaboration with the Singapore Management University Center for AI and Data Governance (CAIDG), and sponsored in part by the Michael Beverly Innovation Fellowship Programme, this ground-breaking international conference will identify the key elements of success for secondary finance- and fintech centers in the UK, US and Singapore to make legal regulatory and policy recommendations to UK regulators and policy makers. Secondary finance and fintech centers have not received much attention from a legal-regulatory perspective to date.
The conference will focus on the Leeds Financial and FinTech Centre. The main objective of the conference is to facilitate a regional network across academia, legal services, the financial and fintech industry, regulators and decision makers. Ultimately, the aim is to enable the UK to become the most innovative jurisdiction and economy in terms of financial regulation and fintech, while protecting the stability of the rapidly transforming financial sector.
About Leeds Financial and FinTech Centre
Over the last 15 years, based on a strong financial services presence, Leeds has become a finance and fintech center for companies across many areas of specialisation. The number of investment funds supporting fintech companies has also multiplied in recent years. Leeds-based fintech companies provide businesses with affordable ways to process card payments, crowdfunding platforms where people invest in property, regulatory platforms for fraud prevention, anti-money laundering and identity verification, among others. These services create value; they can save money and time for both customers and financial institutions. Therefore, they have a positive impact on the economy.
