The officially licensed NFTs of the NBA and WNBA, NBA Top Shot releases NFTs of WNBA star, Sylvia Fowles. Now users can also own moments from her last home game. It is a unique highlight that was a farewell to the sport, the city, the arena and the fans she loved.
Sylvia Fowles limited edition NFTs have been released on the NBA Top Shot platform to celebrate her illustrious career in the ‘W’, along with 24 other players.
In partnership with Top Shot, the WNBA and the WNBA Players Association. Sylvia will feature in the debut of the WNBA Metallic Gold Limited Edition.
It’s a rare set of 25 limited edition moments: highlights, buzzer beaters, ankle breakers and bounces. They will celebrate the talent of 25 different WNBA players, with Sylvia Fowles being one of them.
A total of 8,750 packages will be available for sale in total. They are currently available on the platform for $89. At 4:00 PM ET on August 30th, users will find out if they received a package or not, with the packages delivered straight to their account if they did.
To clarify, each Metallic Gold LE Moment has an edition size of /499. In fact, as part of this partnership, Dapper Labs is donating a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of Moments with Syl, up to $50,000, to the National Women’s Law Center to support gender justice across issues central to the lives of women and girls.
NBA Top Shot is an NFT marketplace where users can buy, sell and trade basketball video clips. These are also known as “moments”.
Launched in 2020, NBA Top Shot is a partnership between the NBA and Dapper Labs, the creators of CryptoKitties, to create the league’s officially licensed NFTs. High-profile investors include NBA players Michael Jordan, Kevin Durrant and Klay Thompson.
In particular, the platform is run using the Flow blockchain, which was developed by Dapper Labs. Overall, it gives users the ability to trade digital assets based on NBA game video clips. The Flow blockchain supports transactions on a number of other NFT marketplaces, such as NFL All Day and UFC Strike.
Sylvia Fowles is an American former basketball player. She played in the NBA from 2008, when she was selected second overall in the WNBA draft, until 2022 when she retired with the Minnesota Lynx.
All in all, throughout her career, she played overseas and in the WNBA. Overall, her list of teams consists of Chicago Sky, Spartak Moscow, Galatasaray, Shanghai Swordfish, Canik Belediyesi, Beijing Great Wall and Minnesota Lynx. Individually, she won 2 WNBA Finals MVPs, 1 WNBA MVP. As well as 8 All-Star call ups and 3 features on the All-WNBA First Team.
Alongside her two WNBA championships in 2015 and 2017 with the Minnesota Lynx, the Florida native also represented the United States at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She and her teammates earned a gold medal in the process.
Throughout her WNBA career, she averaged 15.3 PPG, 1 APG and 10.1 RPG.
