We caught up with Tony Gaidhane, vice president of Booz Allen’s commercial operations, to find out how Booz Allen Hamilton’s solutions are transforming cyber security for businesses around the world.

Gaidhane, who has 21 years of industry experience, has been based in the Netherlands for three years – the move marks a significant change for the American native. He works with clients across the UK and Europe and has been part of Booz Allen since 2013. Prior to moving to Europe, he worked in Washington DC as a Cyber ​​Security Executive in Booz Allen’s US commercial business, where he led Booz Allen’s Commercial Cyber Fusion Center Capability and worked with a range of customers to design, operate and mature their cyber defense and operational capabilities globally.

Gaidhane believes that a major difference between newer companies and the offerings provided by Booz Allen lies in the organization’s experience in the market. “Having founded the management consulting discipline over a century ago, business, government and military leaders have turned to Booz Allen to solve their most complex problems. We bring tons of expertise in analytics, digital, engineering and cybersecurity.”

On a mission to transform cyber security in business

He explains that part of the company’s philosophy is to work ‘shoulder to shoulder’ with clients, using a mission first approach to choose the right strategy and technology to help them realize their visions. He explains: “We are also a key partner in some of the most innovative programs for governments around the world and we are trusted by some of the most sensitive agencies. We started working with commercial clients over 40 years ago and we have continued to expand our work.”

“We approach cybersecurity as a business enabler that empowers our customers to execute digital transformations and fulfill their existential missions,” says Gaidhane. “What we’ve seen is that as organizations grow their business and take on major transformations—such as cloud migrations or broad-based operational technology migrations or developments—their attack surfaces, and thus their threat numbers, grow at an unprecedented rate.”

Automation and the digital ecosystem

Gaidhane concludes: “As our customers evolve to use more automation, more analytics, machine learning and AI, we will continue to develop our leading capabilities to solve our customers’ challenges in these areas. The other aspect is that assessing the broader business context within a range of threats as well as the reactors is really going to be important to staying ahead.

“We will continue to develop our capabilities to be able to take the whole business view as well as, I would say, stay ahead of the curve in automation, analytics and AI to get there.”
