Ticketmaster Pilots NFT-enabled pre-sale for ticket priority
Ticketmaster is partnering with Avenged Sevenfold to launch its Ethereum NFT token gating feature, in an effort to end scalping, bot activity and long wait times. As part of this partnership, the heavy metal band tested the feature with their Deathbats Club NFT collection before fully integrating it.
This is the first time Ticketmaster offers token-gated integration for direct ticket purchases, having previously issued over 5 million NFTs as commemorative tokens for major events such as the Super Bowl.
Right now, Ticketmaster’s token gate sale works without any errors for tokens minted on Ethereum and held in dApp wallets like Coinbase or MetaMask. Fans have already used this feature to purchase tickets to various major events, and now it will be available for all remaining dates on Ticketmaster.

How NFT-Gating On Ticketmaster Works
As part of the purchase process, Ticketmaster will guide users to connect to their wallet to verify NFT ownership, after which the purchase process will remain unchanged. The ticket will then be issued to the wallet associated with the NFT, giving fans the ability to transfer the ticket to another wallet, if necessary.
For now, this is a trial initiative, but if there is demand for it, Ticketmaster can expand the integration to include more artists. The NFTs give fans exclusive access to one unique digital memorialwhile the token-gated feature ensures increased security and clarity in the ticket buying experience.
We are pleased to announce the first leg of our Life Is But A Dream… North American Tour • July 18th to August 7th • with special guest @aof_official. @DeathbatsClub members can unlock exclusive early access to request tickets now through Tuesday at 12.00 PT. pic.twitter.com/wP1U2VRJpC

NFTs are making strides in the music industry
Ticketmaster’s implementation of token-gated ticket sales through NFTs is an important step in efforts to combat scalping and bot activity in the live event industry. It also provides a unique opportunity for fans to own exclusive digital memorabilia associated with the event they attend.
This pilot program could very well mark the future of live event ticketing, as it brings transparency and fairness to the purchasing process.
By partnering with Avenged Sevenfold, Ticketmaster hopes to offer fans a secure platform to purchase affordable tickets while owning a unique digital collectible associated with the event.
