Ticketmaster launches new NFT collection function
More than five million NFTs have already been minted
Ticketmaster has announced a brand new way for event promoters to enhance fan experiences through digital collectibles. Event promoters selling live event tickets on Ticketmaster now have the ability to issue NFTs before, during and after live events. To date, the offering has already seen significant traction, with Ticketmaster minting more than five million NFTs for event organizers on the Flow blockchain.
This new digital feature gives fans the unique opportunity to extend their live event experience through digital memorabilia – which can be shared online or activated to access unique loyalty rewards, VIP engagement opportunities and more – while giving event organizers a whole new way to engage with fans who attend their events.
Ticketmaster chose the Flow blockchain to stamp these collectibles. Flow is an open, decentralized platform, uniquely designed to deliver consumer-scale experiences such as NFL All Day, NBA Top Shot and UFC Strike. Flow is the blockchain of choice for leading sports organizations, leagues, entertainment companies and brands worldwide. According to Deloitte, it takes less energy to create an NFT on Flow’s environmentally friendly blockchain than a post on a social network.
“Promoters who choose to offer fans an NFT with their ticket have a real opportunity to make this new technology relevant and relatable at scale,” said Brendan Lynch, Ticketmaster EVP of Enterprise & Revenue. “This is why we’re partnering with Flow, because their blockchain is purpose-built for fan engagement and frictionless consumer experiences.”
Ticketmaster’s tools aim to unlock unique integrations across the fan journey as each event promoter has different goals for issuing NFTs.
“Our partnership with Ticketmaster will enable millions of live event fans to capture, share and enhance their IRL experiences through digital collectibles,” added Mickey Maher, SVP Partnerships of Dapper Labs. “Ticketmaster has quickly become a leader in this space, so we’re excited to support their work to empower event organizers to deliver even greater value to fans through the benefits of blockchain.”
Ticketmaster used Flow to distribute more than 70,000 one-of-one virtual commemorative ticket NFTs at Super Bowl LVI with each attendee’s unique location on the NFT itself. For the 2022 season, the NFL will offer the NFT’s imprint on Flow to every participant at more than 100 select games, including at least three home games from all 32 clubs.
Last year, Ticketmaster’s parent company, Live Nation, announced details to offer digital collectible NFT ticket stubs called Live Stubs. Live Nation’s Live Stubs digital collectibles will reflect the unique section, row and seat of each ticket purchased, allowing fans to collect ticket stubs again. The company introduced the program for the 2022 Swedish House Mafia Paradise Again Tour, the band’s first tour in 10 years.
