This is how you position yourself as a leader at work

In just over three years, the management of the majority of businesses will be in the hands of millennials as baby boomers begin to retire, according to recent research from Deloitte, which says that by 2025, millennials will make up 75% of the workforce.

In real time, this means now is the time to start positioning yourself as a leader if you want to climb the corporate ladder. It is important to plan ahead, set goals and ensure that your efforts are seen by the right people. It is also important that you recognize that there is a noticeable difference between leading a team and managing a team.

Managers rule – they tick boxes and get things done. Leaders, on the other hand, buck trends, find new ways to achieve corporate and personal goals and, most importantly, lead by consistent example.

Head of Lending, Revolut

The role: Remotely, the Head of Lending will focus on the Australian market, taking the Revolut lending strategy to the next level by introducing new products and making your mark on the industry.

Responsibility: You will develop the business case for launching new products in the local market while establishing and executing underwriting, portfolio management and fundraising strategies and policies. You will also manage the overall risk of the entire Australian loan portfolio and manage relevant regulatory relationships.

The requirements: You need a demonstrated ability to think and reason logically with a deep knowledge of retail lending products and over seven years of experience as a lending manager. In addition, you will have a strong entrepreneurial drive and experience from start-ups.

Lead (Staff) Data Engineer, Shopify

The role: The Lead Data Engineer will join Shopify’s Data Engineering group, which builds and maintains the platform that delivers accessible data to drive decision making at Shopify for millions of merchants.

Responsibility: There is potential to work across a range of teams including analytics, data experiences and reliability.

The requirements: You will be an experienced technical manager with a proven track record of delivering impactful results and will have six to 10 years’ experience across a range of areas. Experience with technical guidance, coaching and improving the technical output of the people around you is also necessary.

Sales Director – Crypto, BVNK

The role: The VP of Sales – Crypto will work with the SVP Commercial to develop banking solutions for crypto businesses, bringing payments and banking into a single platform.

Responsibility: You will help define, set and execute the existing crypto commercial strategy by building sales pipelines and entering into agreements with new partners. This is in addition to hiring and coaching a high performing sales team.

The requirements: You must be an energetic, entrepreneurial professional with a strong understanding of the broader crypto landscape. A demonstrable five-year track record of building sales teams, managing relationships and closing deals is essential.
