The Importance of World Building How 5ire Transforming Blockchain Revolution-Utkarsh Amitabh

It’s been a difficult few weeks for the world – political turmoil across geographies, market uncertainty, inflation and negative blowback from the global recession. We are aware of the macro realities we face, but thanks to the support of our community, we have been steadfast in building 5ireChain.

In just over a month after launch, we had reached our first major milestone of one million transactions on the EVM and Native chains respectively.

Today I want to reflect on the importance of building and nurturing a community in the world. It’s something we’ve done diligently from day 1. In addition to the traction, building with our community and cheering for us has made it even more meaningful.

What is world building and why does it matter?

Philosopher and Shopify CEO Alex Danco wrote: “Everyone’s job is world-building (selling is not enough) even if they don’t realize it.” In this newsletter I will draw on his concept of world building and connect it with what we are building at 5ire.

It is often said that everyone’s job is sales, even if they don’t know it. Danco says we shouldn’t throw out that advice, but update it to say that in this world of internet abundance, everyone’s job is to build the world.

“Your job is actually to create a world that’s so interesting and so compelling and has a reason for people to go in and explore that world that they can go spend time in it, without you even having to be there.”

World building has been such an adventure in 5ire. Thanks to all our community members for helping to create this new world of sustainable blockchains. Our business is not about selling a particular currency, but rather about building a new, decentralized and sustainable internet powered by web 3.0.

Creating a compelling narrative, one that is familiar, surprising and inclusive, requires a deep understanding of what citizens (consumers) really want from this world. It is an interesting problem to solve, requiring an intimate understanding of technology, sociology, psychology, philosophy and popular culture. That is what makes work energizing for us.

Danco says that our success in world-building depends entirely on how successfully other people can repeat narratives, both to themselves and to others.

He adds: “The more complex or valuable what you’re trying to sell, the more important it is for you to build a world around that idea, where other people can enter, explore and hang out – without you having to be there with them all the time.”

We understand the complexity of our mission and vision at 5ire. That’s why we’ve created a large community of ambassadors, community advocates and city leaders to help scale our narrative around sustainable blockchains.

Complexity, composition and world building

“Simple worlds are boring and people leave, worlds need to have challenges and jungle gyms that people can climb and explore.”

World building cannot be done alone. We need a community, a network of champions, thousands of true fans all working with you to build something that matters.

Especially if you want to bring about systemic change, sequential or disjointed efforts won’t do much. Danco emphasizes the importance of parallel efforts where several different things happen at the same time. This is how things change, movements are built and people get closer to building their category of one.

We keep these principles in mind when designing our strategy for product, research, marketing and community building

Final thoughts

Whatever you do, immerse yourself in world building. Whether you’re a computer scientist trying to figure out the metaverse or a community builder trying to make the world a fairer place or an activist fighting climate change, you won’t get far if all you’re trying to do is sell.

As a tier 1 blockchain company, world building is our top priority. It goes hand in hand with technology, research and R&D. All of our AMAs, events, hackathons, blogs, research papers are designed to help you build the world with us. Thank you very much for all your efforts so far. We greatly appreciate that.
