Tamil Nadu Idol Wing to Use Blockchain for Grievances, Grievances

The Tamil Nadu Idol Wing CID has launched a unique digital platform – the first of its kind initiative on Blockchain – to receive anonymous information on idol smuggling, possession, sale of illegal antique idols, the Idol Wing said on Friday.

It is based on a move by the Firozabad district police in UP to use the new technology to receive complaints from the public on Blockchain.

Blockchain, a database or ledger shared across a computer network, stores information electronically in digital format.

“Furthermore, Idol Wing employees can also submit their complaints on Blockchain, which is also the first of its kind. Public can submit their complaints on the decentralized Blockchain at: ‘complaints.tnidols.com'” said Idol Wing DGP K Jayanth Murali .

A couple of weeks ago, Idol Wing had launched NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) and SBTs (Soul Bound Tokens), which are also Blockchain-based initiatives.

Using Blockchain’s immutable nature, Idol Wing now has an efficient and secure way to track and store data, he said.

Blockchain has several advantages over traditional methods of filing complaints. For example, it would be easier to track and monitor the progress of a complaint and would ensure that the wing deals with each complaint with the same accuracy and consistency. In addition, it will provide an audit trail, making it easier to identify any problems or concerns with how complaints are handled.

“Overall, use of Blockchain by Idol Wing will help create a more reliable and secure system for tracking and resolving complaints. This initiative will not only help informants provide information about idol thefts and smugglers, but also help the public to send file complaints on Blockchain, Murali said.

Informants who post information about the chain leading to a seizure or arrest of an idol thief or smuggler will be rewarded with Soul Bound Token / Digital Medal or an NFT.

Similarly, the complaints filed by the Idol Wing personnel will be processed by the concerned officer within a fortnight and an action report will be posted on the Blockchain within a week.

This technology can also be used to store information about complaints, making it easier to track and analyze complaints and identify potential problems. Adopting the innovative technology could revolutionize how police complaints are handled.

The Idol Wing, in a release here, said this initiative was launched in collaboration with Guardian Link.
