The Algorand Foundation (CRYPTO: ALGO) announced the first launch of Kare Survivor Wallet.
This project is a collaboration with the Disaster Services Corporation Society of St. Vincent de Paul USA (DSC SVDP-USA) and the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (National VOAD).
This blockchain based platform funded by American Red Cross aims to improve the efficiency, transparency and speed of disaster relief distribution, the Algorand Foundation said in an emailed statement.

Using a mobile app, families can verify their identity, receive credits and redeem them for essential supplies directly from Amazon within 24 hours.
This process significantly reduces the traditional waiting time of several months for emergency assistance.

Developed in collaboration with Singapore-based technology firm AID: TechKare Survivor Wallet leverages the security, reliability and scalability of the Algorand blockchain to verify digital identities and disburse aid.

The American Red Cross is investing in the Algorand blockchain’s potential to transform disaster relief distribution across multiple states, and by late spring should include Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississippi. Most recently, Kare Survivor Wallet facilitated the distribution of essential goods to families affected by recent disasters in Tennessee and Florida.
“This unique public-private partnership has brought together leading aid organizations with technologists who sought to streamline the process by which families affected by natural disasters can access much-needed emergency aid,” said Elizabeth Disco-Sherermanaging director of St. Vincent de Paul Disaster Services and chairman of the board i National VOAD.
“The promising stories of these first families using the Kare Survivor Wallet are an early sign of how transformative this approach will truly be.”
