Self-proclaimed creator of Bitcoin to visit Barcelona during Democracy4All
Craig Wright, who claims to be the inventor of Bitcoin, will visit the Catalan capital as part of the Democracy4All event on November 10 and 11 at Llotja de Mar.
The international event Democracy4All, which will take place on November 10 and 11 at Llotja de Mar in Barcelona, will be attended by Craig Wright, the Australian entrepreneur and computer scientist who claims to be the creator of Bitcoin (BTC). In 2015, Wright declared that he was Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonym used by the mysterious creator of the first cryptocurrency that gave birth to blockchain technology, which has led to both support and criticism in equal measure among those in the Bitcoin community.
The Australian claims to have 1.1 million Bitcoins (worth roughly $25 billion at current exchange rates) in a digital wallet that can only belong to a person or entity involved in Bitcoin since its inception. To prove this claim, all the entrepreneur needs to do is make a transaction from this wallet to another account, but the wallet in question has been untouched since its creation. In late 2021, Wright won a lawsuit in which the family of his late late partner, David Kleiman, claimed half of the wallet’s funds, arguing that he had also participated in the creation of Bitcoin.
