Rootstock Summit is a turning point for building on Bitcoin
Cryptocurrency events and conferences come in many forms, large and small. The Rootstock Summit, a free-to-attend one-day event, should not be overlooked. More announcements will advance the future of building on Bitcoin with smart contracts and second-tier virtual machine.
The first ever Rootstock Summit
As new crypto and blockchain events come to fruition, it is crucial to be aware of what to expect. The Rootstock Summit primarily focuses on building on the Bitcoin network, although the base layer lacks support for smart contracts and relatively slow transactions. Rootstock fixes these aspects and will continue to push the boundaries of innovation on Bitcoin.
Hosting the first Rootstock Summit in Buenos Aires – at Sans Souci on November 10, 2022 – makes a lot of sense. Bitcoin continues to build significant momentum in Argentina and neighboring countries. Also, IOVLabs, the creators of Rootstock’s infrastructure framework and smart contract network, is a well-respected entity in the region.
The focus of the Rootstock Summit is twofold. First, it means the ongoing project transition to a more community-driven approach. Brand ownership will shift to the community through open source marketing materials and brand resources. Second, the brand identity will shift away from Rootstock and become “Built on Bitcoin”. This change indicates the roots of the project in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

In addition, several ecosystem participants will attend the Rootstock Summit, including Money on Chain, Tropykus, Taringa!, Sovryon, Defiant, etc.
