Ripple and Algorand are sponsoring the CM University Blockchain Summit

The summit will be held on May 8 and 9, with short talks from experienced blockchain experts.

Ripple and the Algorand Foundation are the seed sponsors of the Carnegie Mellon University Secure Blockchain Summit to be held in May 2023. The goal of the summit is to offer comprehensive insights into the prospects and development of blockchain technology.

Carnegie Mellon CyLab, CMU’s cybersecurity and privacy research center, recently revealed the development through their official Twitter handle. They also revealed that additional sponsorship opportunities for entities interested in contributing to the program are still available.

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), established in 1900 by Andrew Carnegie, is a private research university in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. CMU has a strong reputation in technology, business, arts and social sciences and is currently ranked among the top 25 universities in the United States.

In response to the growing use of blockchain technology, CMU has integrated several blockchain courses into its curriculum. It now hosts the Secure Blockchain Summit to promote understanding and knowledge of the nascent technology.

This year’s event will mark the first summit, with Ripple and Algorand as opening sponsors. Other sponsorship opportunities are still open. The summit is part of the Secure Blockchain Initiative, which CMU describes as “a multi-year, interdisciplinary research program.”

Scheduled for May 8 and 9, this year’s summit will feature discussions by seasoned blockchain experts and CMU professors. Topics will cover cryptoeconomics, applied cryptography and programming languages. The summit is open to the public, and interested parties are encouraged to complete dedicated Google form.

Ripple’s Contribution to Blockchain Initiatives

CMU’s growing focus on blockchain technology reflects the growing global use of this technology, and Ripple has positioned itself as a primary financial supporter for institutions interested in exploring blockchain. Remember that CMU’s CyLab announced April last year that Ripple is the first sponsor of the Secure Blockchain Initiative.

Also, Ripple was last month unveiled as the latest sponsor of the FinTech at Cornell program, an initiative introduced by the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business in New York. The tech firm has made these contributions despite protracted legal battle with US SEC.
