Rimowa luggage enters the metaverse with Nike RTFKT NFT suitcases

Rimowa has traveled out of its home in Germany to bring its unique materials and exquisite craftsmanship of physical luggage into the metaverse.

Today, LVMH’s Rimowa has partnered with Nike’s RTFKT to feature 888 – a symbol of financial prosperity and happiness – NFTs backed by limited edition physical luggage.

Attracting new Web3 enthusiasts and ages of Rimowa fans into the metaverse, the collaboration will combine physical and virtual artistry with exclusive Original Cabin Rimowa cases – issued first as digital assets.

Originally introduced in 1898 by Paul Morszeck, the Rimowa Classic Cabin suitcase tried to be the most robust, light and stylish luggage at the time.

Today, Rimowa’s aluminum luggage has been recognized as a ground-breaking invention for travelers who want to travel in a light, yet fashionable way. Equipped with handcrafted leather handles and a polycarbonate exterior, the Classic Cabin aims to showcase the artisan craftsmanship and modernism of the German Maison.

Committed to prioritizing innovative design and travel practicality, Rimowa has entered the metaverse to further prove that originality cannot be duplicated – just as the soon-to-be-released NFTs cannot be replicated.

Leveraging the metaverse, Rimowa has developed a new 3D e-commerce experience through OnCyber to meet the ever-changing needs of travelers worldwide in the virtual environment.

Extending its years of luggage expertise with current digital developments, Rimowa attracts newcomers to travel into the metaverse and join the established Web3 community and space by partnering with RTFKT.

Purchased by Nike in December 2021, RTFKT is known as one of the first luxury brands to operate in the NFT space with their sold-out digital sneakers being purchased for more than some physical sneaker collections today.

Following RTFKT’s conventional puzzles and quests, Rimowa will look for community participation in unlocking access to the exclusive drop and limited-edition products in a new interactive campaign.

On October 27th, users will be invited to solve a series of challenges together to uncover the “hacked” Rimowa x RTFKT space station – which required reactivation in order to stamp one of the rare NFTs.

Those able to obtain the limited access on NFTs will be able to forge the token for a redeemable physical version of the briefcase.

“This collaboration is a fantastic opportunity for two brands that excel in their fields to come together to create products that can live in both the digital and physical realms,” said Emelie De Vitis, Chief Marketing Officer at Rimowa.

As part of Rimowa’s mission to develop unique products where function coexists with luxury, Rimowa hopes to bring its creativity into the virtual landscape by introducing and immersing its supporters in the next generation of brand engagement through the metaverse.

“Entering the Metaverse with RTFKT is really exciting, as it allows us to explore what travel means there. It is a space that takes creativity and collaboration to great heights and offers new ways to engage with diverse audiences,” added De Vitis.

Rimowa will also unveil a number of digital assets such as Avatar Wearables and Space Robot Worker NFTs with RTFKT to transport the physical suitcase function into the metaverse for the first time.

“We’re really putting all our passion into this project, while pushing the boundaries in terms of the embossing experience, 3D room and raffle system. We can’t wait for people to see the physical luggage, and discover their Clone Wearables when they forge”, says RTFKT co-founder Benoit Pagotto.
