Revolut launches 22 new crypto tokens in Australia

Revolut, the global financial super app, has announced that it is strengthening its crypto offering for Australian customers with the launch of 22 new crypto tokens.

The announcement follows a 300% increase to Revolut’s Australian crypto users over a three-month (July-October) period and engagement with the “Learn and Earn” training feature. ‘Learn & Earn’ transforms technical crypto jargon into more accessible information for a wider audience via two in-app courses available to Revolut customers. Its purpose is to help customers improve their knowledge of cryptocurrencies and blockchain networks and reward them with tokens for doing so.

Traction on Revolut’s crypto platform has been gaining momentum since its launch in 2020. Compared to this time last year, Revolut has almost doubled (73%) the number of crypto users in Australia, leading to the launch of ‘Learn & Earn’ last month. Just 10 days after launch and Revolut Australia reported a 10% increase in its new crypto users and more than 25,000 completed lessons, meaning consumer appetite for crypto is there and sustaining.

The new tokens added include NKN, BAND, LINK, TRB, AAVE, COMP, CRV, SUSHI, 1INCH, MIR, OGN, BAT, ENJ, SKL, CTSI, STORJ, RLC, KNC, KEEP, CHZ, NU and SHIB. The token launch brings the total number of cryptocurrencies available for buying and selling in Australia to 55.

Learn & Earn has mostly attracted 18-34-year-olds, and almost two-thirds of the total number of crypto fans who completed the courses and earned the rewards fall into these age categories. Revolut plans to add more courses to Learn & Earn by the end of the year, and to offer increasing access to consumers to better control their finances and give them safe access to new tools and technologies.

Revolut updates

In early November, Revolut launched an instant messaging feature for UK and EEA customers in its quest to become a super app. The new feature allows users to chat as well as share funny gifs and stickers while sending and requesting money to and from other customers.

The new chat feature aims to make talking about money less difficult by keeping it in one place. To access this feature, customers simply need to go into the ‘Transfer’ section of the Revolut app. The chat window opens immediately after you have tapped on one of the contacts. The chat will be embedded in the ‘Transfer’ function, so there is no need to open multiple windows.

A few days earlier, the company announced that it launched a new feature that allows customers to make purchases using their crypto balances. Revolut will reward users who use their cryptocurrency balance to pay for daily expenses on their Revolut card with a 1% crypto cashback for a limited time. The new “spend from crypto” feature makes it faster for Revolut cardholders to sell their crypto assets and push those funds to their credentials in real-time to pay for e-commerce and personal purchases.
