Pullman Announces Australian NFT Exhibition Supporting Emerging and Indigenous Women Artists
In a worldwide first for Pullman hotels, Australia will host a traveling and immersive NFT (Non-Fungible Token) art exhibition, titled Digital E/SCAPES by Pullmanfeaturing four emerging and Indigenous female artists from Australia and overseas.
The digital art exhibition will run from 14 November to 27 March 2023 and will launch at the Pullman Sydney Hyde Park Sydney next month before heading to Melbourne (9 January), Adelaide (13 February) and Brisbane (27 March).
Digital E/SCAPES with Pullman consists of 16 NFT artworks, four of which will be revealed at each new location. The NFT works will be auctioned during each exhibition via all.accor.com/pullmannft with proceeds split between the artist and their chosen local charity.
The colorful, life-size exhibit will not only serve as a way to celebrate emerging artists, but is set to become a community destination where people can experience the Artist Playground atmosphere of Pullman properties and learn about NFTs and how they contribute to the metaverse.
Those attending Digital E/SCAPES will discover the inspiration behind the artists’ work, along with information about the world of NFT. Lisa Teh, co-founder of Web3 Agency Mooning, has worked with the Pullman team to develop Digital E/SCAPES and will provide hotel teams with training on NFTs so they are equipped to discuss the exhibition with guests and exhibitors.
Brisbane-based Indigenous artist, Chern’ee Sutton, will showcase her first ever NFT, bringing together art from one of the world’s oldest living cultures and the new age medium of NFT. She will be exhibiting alongside Melbourne artist Candy Ng, and internationally acclaimed Melissa Vincent, an animation artist from the US, and 2D artist and illustrator Vi Valiukevich, who hails from Belarus. Each of the artworks is inspired by the concept of “journey” and what it means to each artist. The works will be displayed on LED screens in an interactive lobby exhibition at each hotel.
“Pullman Hotels prides itself on creating a playground for artists, so we are extremely excited to introduce this groundbreaking experiential digital exhibition,” said Sarah Derry, CEO of Accor Pacific – operator of Pullman hotels.
“With this exhibition, Pullman aims to work to bridge the gap between the physical and digital environments, redefining how we bring people together to exchange and shape meaningful culture.”
“It has been exciting to work with the Pullman team on such a groundbreaking project”commented Lisa Teh. “They are not only one of the first companies globally to enter the new world of Web3, but have used the technology to spotlight and support emerging and indigenous women artists.”
Brisbane-based Indigenous artist, Chern’ee Sutton, said: “I am very inspired by my indigenous culture and heritage and want to share that with the rest of the world through my art. I like to combine two art worlds, my traditional Aboriginal heritage and the people and unique colors of Australia.”
“Making digital art allows me to do this from anywhere in the world and I’m excited to share my art at the E/SCAPES by Pullman exhibit and I hope you enjoy my artwork and the messages they bring.”
