Payments Giant Visa partners with Crypto.com for new NFT collection

Digital payments company Visa is auctioning football-themed non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on digital asset exchange Crypto.com ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.

The payments giant is holding the Visa Masters of Movement auction to benefit Street Child United, a charity working to change the negative perceptions of street children.

During the auction period from November 1 to 8, fans can bid on the dynamic NFTs featuring the World Cup goals of five legendary soccer players, namely Jared Borgetti of Mexico, Tim Cahill of Australia, Carli Lloyd of the United States, Michael Owen of England and Maxi Rodriguez from Argentina.

Says Visa senior vice president and head of sponsorship Andrea Fairchild,

“As the FIFA World Cup 2022 approaches, we want to celebrate football, art and technology through the lens of what makes the FIFA World Cup so special – wildly passionate fans, legendary athletes and, for a few short weeks, the ability to bring the world together in one unique way.”

The highest bidder for each of the auctioned digital collectibles will receive NFT in the Crypto.com wallet. The fan will also receive a printable copy of the high-quality artwork and signed memorabilia from the player on the purchased NFT.

All five legendary players will provide signed jerseys as memorabilia. In addition, Lloyd will also give the highest bidder on his NFT a signed Sports Illustrated magazine and Owen, signed boots and a signed copy of his autobiography Reboot.

Says Chief Marketing Officer Steven Kalifowitz for Crypto.com about the partnership with Visa for the charity auction,

“We are thrilled to partner with Visa to bring the Visa Masters of Movement to life and offer fans the opportunity to create and collect the most unique FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 collectibles that will live forever on the blockchain.”
