NFT Card Game Emergents TCG launches in beta with exclusive Super Booster packs
Blockchain-based digital trading card game Emergents TCG is celebrating the launch of its public beta with an “Emergents TCG Super Booster drop” of exclusive promo cards that can’t be found anywhere else.
Emergents TCG is a mobile-first digital trading card game created by InterPop that is built on top of the Tezos blockchain. It is based on InterPop’s existing blockchain-based comic book superheroes, and uniquely among digital TCGs, Emergent’s TCG allows players to own their own in-game items. The game itself places a lot of emphasis on strategy, with a particular focus on deck building.
What’s really cool about Emergent’s TCG is that even though it’s primarily a card trading game, it comes with a whole new economic model that uses Tezos and NFTs to ensure that players actually own their cards. The beauty of it is that the blockchain and crypto aspects are hidden behind a simple, user-friendly interface that makes it easy for players to collect, buy, sell and organize their cards.
Emergent’s TCG has been created as a tonic for trading card fans who are tired of the free-to-play model of modern TCGs and don’t like the hassle of alternative, blockchain-based games. Emergent’s TCG gives players an easy way to buy, sell and trade their cards using simple economics that anyone can understand. In this way, Emergent’s TCG has all the positives of traditional TCGs like Magic: The Gathering, without any of the complex drawbacks.
InterPop CEO Brian David-Marshall said the company’s goal was never to build “the best blockchain game,” but rather to build a better game that can go “toe-to-toe with the best in class card games and recapture some of the excitement that came from buying, selling and trading Magic or Pokémon cards in the real world.”
With the game now available to play in public beta, that magic has been recreated. Players now have the chance to purchase an exclusive Super Booster Pack that contains unique, variant art not found on any other cards, along with others that won’t be available to purchase in-game for many months to come. What’s more, these packs are ready to open immediately, with the cards instantly playable. The random packs will also include a number of 1-of-1, “first minted” versions of each card, which are sure to become highly prized collectibles among the Emergents TCG community given their unique status.
In addition, Super Boosters also give buyers the chance to win one of 28 pages of physical comic art, as well as new editions of InterPop’s digital comics and player avatars not found anywhere else.
All in all, there are three types of Super Booster packs available, with prices starting at 50 XTZ (around $90) for the standard packs, rising to 175 XTZ for the Rare Super Booster packs. As for the Epic Super Booster Packs, which are guaranteed to come with a 1st Embossed Edition card as well as NFTs redeemable for original comic art, these will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Emergent’s TCG has some big supporters, including trading card game legend Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa, a well-known Magic Hall of Famer and former world champion who helped design the game. He said that Emergent’s TCG wants to have the same simplicity of play as Hearthstone along with the strategic depth of MTG.
“Everything in our game is designed to be fast and efficient, while still allowing for a challenge if you’re looking for one — complex, but not complicated,” he said. “Our core resource mechanic, Wildcarding, is a mechanic that we hope will create exciting moments for players while making their choices matter. The goal is to have strategic depth and skill-intensive moments for those looking for it, while also being inviting for those who want a more relaxed approach to gaming.”
