New Zealand company Valocity announced as runner-up for fintech of the year in Singapore
At the Global Singapore FinTech Festival Awards 2022, Valocity was announced as the second world fintech of the year for its valuation platform and smart digital tools.
The Singapore FinTech Festival (SFF) is considered to be a prestigious event and global platform for the fintech community.
The awards recognize transformative fintech companies, financial institutions, technology companies and individuals in the sector who have been instrumental in creating new growth opportunities and promoting financial inclusion.
Valocity founder and global CEO Carmen Vicelich said it was “incredibly inspiring” to represent New Zealand at such a prestigious event.
“Not only are we incredibly proud to be the only Australian business to make it to the final, but also so grateful for the ongoing support from our property ecosystem, partners and customers,” she told Newshub.
“It was an incredibly proud moment to be on the global stage (and fly home to New Zealand with the award), representing our entire dream team who are creating the impossible, possible and incredible fintech community behind us.”
Vicelich said Valocity has been growing globally at pace, so the award allows them to support even more growth in new and existing markets.
“This win gives us the credibility and confirmation that we really are the best at what we do and recognizes the uniqueness and innovation of our solutions,” she said.
“This win will certainly open up further international opportunities for Valocity given the high esteem associated with other global fintechs.”
This year’s award theme recognized initiatives that create new growth opportunities, transform industry practices, promote financial inclusion and actively integrate environmental, social and governance factors as part of their overall business model.
Sopnendu Mohanty, Chief Fintech Officer at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, which partly organized the event, said he was very encouraged by the ground-breaking solutions presented by the winners and finalists of this year’s awards.
“The winning entries have demonstrated a strong potential to tackle real-world problems while allowing the financial sector to harness the enormous benefits of new technologies on their journey towards a greener digital future.”
Beating Valocity as global fintech of the year was Mastercard for its invaluable Planet Carbon Calculator which allows users to see an estimated carbon footprint of all their purchases. In third place was Stemly, which uses transaction and invoice level data to create cash flow forecasts to facilitate the delivery of financial products.
