Mumbai: Ravi Lambah, Head of Investment Group; head, India at Temasek said that the main themes that the group is focusing on this year include sustainability, digitalisation and consumption. “We will remain invested in companies that continue to have value and want to promote good governance when we put capital into work. Blockchain will slowly come to many industries, we see a lot of value here. ”
Temasek, which distributed over $ 1 billion in India last year and counts new time firms such as PharmEasy, Licious and finance such as Axis Bank and AU Small Finance in its portfolio, said they continue to be positive for India in the long run. India’s portfolio has grown from $ 9 billion to $ 16 billion over the last 5 years. Last year alone, $ 1 billion was invested in India. ” Not deterred by high inflation, the Lambah said that inflation is a short-term concern for India and will not deter investment activity.
With investments in modern technology such as Zomato, Policy Bazaar, Ola & CarTrade, Lambah believes that the technology assessments have corrected themselves, which had to happen. “We will remain invested in companies that continue to have value. We want to promote good governance when we put capital into work and help high-cost companies manage the costs of operating towards profitability. “

We have recently invested in Country Delight and Licious in agri-tech. ESG is the core of our business, we have JVs with different companies within ESG and are focused on investments that are ESG-compatible, says Lambah.Temasek also invests in funds focused on blockchain and says that blockchain will slowly come in many industries.
Lambah mentioned that hospitals look attractive and many investments have been made in the sector with the health platform Sheares including investments in e-pharmacies, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. “The latest topics are cybersecurity, blockchain, SaaS companies, start-up ecosystems. We are at the beginning of an exciting phase for innovation and technology in start-up companies. We are also increasing investments in the consumer sector, the Agri sectors.”
