NEAR Launches Web3 Blockchain Operating System to Onboard 1 Billion Users to the Open Web – BitcoinKE
Blockchain platform, NEAR, has announced that it is launching the world’s first Blockchain Operating System (BOS) that will provide a common layer for browsing and discovering open web experiences compatible with any blockchain.
BOS is available at alpha.near.org and is described as a composable interface for Web3 that allows end users to easily and frictionlessly discover all of Web3’s capabilities in one seamless experience. End users can explore Web3 experiences, social media and news in one place.
According to the organization, anyone in the Open Web ecosystem can create their own frontends (i.e. their own versions of alpha.near.org), which are compatible with the blockchain of their choice. This means builders from any ecosystem can create components in just a few lines of code and benefit from rapid onboarding to create new and customized Web3 experiences.
Below is what NEAR said:
This is an industry first. With the addition of composable interfaces to the technology stack, NEAR now becomes the Blockchain operating system, allowing seamless, one-time onboarding and removing friction points such as accounting for each experience, while outsourcing development from a collection of over 1,800 components.
The system comes with the added benefit that developers can use it to create and code interfaces in a single environment with the ability to share a variety of components to build apps faster and more efficiently than ever before.
With this move, NEAR says it aims to make its platform the entry point to the “Open Web” for users and developers, making both Web3 and Web2 easier than ever to access and navigate.
According to NEAR, the platform builds on its blockchain that already comes with key benefits, including being simple, with a flexible account model and human-readable accounts, allowing users to choose any name they want instead of a string of letters and numbers .
NEAR has also built out tools to support developers developing on the protocol, including a JavaScript SDK that is said to give 15 million developers access to build on NEAR.
“This has created and sustained a thriving NEAR ecosystem with more than 23 million accounts and over a thousand projects.”
