His signature style sets his work apart and draws the viewer in, inviting them on a journey through his lens. Let’s hear from the artist himself and delve into the thoughts behind the captivating images. He has worked with some of the biggest artists in the world and has a new ALTA nft collection on Exchange.art.
Can you share how you discovered your passion for photography?
Until I started shooting, everything I knew about a photo came from flipping through movies, illustrations, and video games. I loved stories; from the objects and the people in them to the process of visual world building. I have always been a creative. Photography simply became one of my outlets.
How does your creative process differ when working with a high-profile brand like Rhianna, Moncler or Gucci compared to personal projects?
I prefer the movements to be authentic and natural – I hold back and let the sun meet the moment. At the end of the day, I am a collector of memories.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable project you’ve worked on and what made it special?
Recently I filmed a series of objects and –objects trouvés- around the family home, which my father had collected over the years, these things always surrounded my natural environment. From a young age I have always had an emotional response to design aesthetics and history. I carried pieces for my kit, one being a Jerusalem Oil Pot dating back to the Late Bronze Age. (1200-1150 BC) which, when it was in my care, had a particularly strong presence and weight about it. This was a very special experience.
What inspired you to create your ALTA web3 NFT collection and what sets it apart from other NFT collections on the market?
Coming from a background in competitive skiing – The series came together quite naturally. Sierra had already broken form as a skier in the fashion industry. We enjoyed the days shooting in the snow at one of the most iconic mountains in the US
How has the transition to digital photography and NFTs affected the photography industry?
Whether you shoot film or digital, the truth is still the same – good is still good and bad is still bad. The NFT marketplace for photography has been an interesting disruption to enter. It still feels very new and a bit like the wild west. Navigating the room and seeing where the puzzle pieces will line up is part of the joy of the journey when the honors come.
Can you walk us through the process of creating and selling an NFT through Exchange.art?
Create the series, upload the selected, have a drink – roll the dice.
What role do you see NFTs playing in the future of the art world?
Creative freedom and additional potential for undiscovered and established artists, apart from some other traditional systems – how much? I’m not sure… All I know is that it’s a huge amount.
Can you share any advice for aspiring photographers looking to break into the industry and start selling their work?
Use a disguise and make sure to escape.
What can we expect to see next from you in terms of photography and NFTs?
Something quite original.
Why did you choose Exchange.art as a platform for selling NFTs?
Good people and a great marketplace – the credentials were there and the understanding of what this space could become was there. I respect your curation.
What do you like about it?
Having Carte Blanche.
