As the crypto market declines, the sports world continues to launch new digital assets. In this week’s NFT summary, Syracuse and Oregon announce the first in the NFT area, the National Basketball Retired Players Association enters into an agreement to offer collectibles, it’s a launch of former NFL runner Edgerrin James and Magic Johnson makes a big investment.

Syracuse will be the first school with NFTs for athletes

Syracuse University announced a multi-year partnership with Fantastec SWAP, the first of its kind in the NCAA, which will provide the creation of NFTs that have the resemblance of athletes and Syracuse badges and logos.

“We are delighted that our student athletes will benefit from their resemblance to Block S,” Syracuse Sports Director John Wildhack said in a release. “… As the first NCAA program to partner with Fantastec SWAP, our student athletes have yet another unique opportunity to expand their name, image and similarity portfolio and engage with our fans in a new and innovative way.”

ARIA signs partnership with National Basketball Retired Players Association

NBRP has signed an exclusive five-year partnership with ARIA to offer highly collectible NFTs for nearly 1,500 NBA, WNBA and Harlem Globetrotters legends.

The first set of digital collectibles is expected this summer and will feature the likes of Clyde Drexler, Grant Hill, Karl Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon, Bill Russell, John Stockton, Isiah Thomas, Jerry West and Dominique Wilkins.

Oregon offers the NIL opportunity for the benefit of female athletes

Division Street – a University of Oregon-focused NIL company formed by Phil Knight and former Nike executives to help the school’s athletes – launches a new NFT collection called Visions of Flight for the benefit of all participating female athletes in Oregon.

Visions of Flight will operate under the Division Streets Ducks of a Feather NFT platform and was designed by artist Lili Tae in collaboration with basketball player Sedona Prince and 11 other female Oregon athletes.

Participating athletes will equally share 75% of NFT’s revenue, and 25% will be retained by Division Street to compensate for the project’s costs. When a Visions of Flight NFT is sold in a secondary marketplace, a 10% royalty will be placed in a Division Street wallet in favor of athletics in Oregon.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Edgerrin James launches first NFT

James, the former star of the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals, has launched his first limited NFTs using Upstream’s carbon-neutral, easy-to-use exchange.

There are 200 NFTs released by James, priced at $ 50 each. Each NFT commemorates his introduction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame by presenting a signed, one-of-a-kind custom 1975 Chevy Caprice Classic with custom leather seats signed by a number of Hall of Famers. In addition to a collectible item, buyers can also receive additional benefits and experiences reserved for NFT holders.

Magic Johnson acquires two virtual teams in the new NFT sports league

On June 16, Johnson announced that he was buying new football and basketball franchises in SimWin Sports, the world’s premier digital sports league.
