Made in the USA: WhatsMiner will produce Bitcoin miners on American soil
Did WhatsMiner just claim first-mover advantage? Is MicroBT, the manufacturing company, about to conquer the American continent? If so, this is huge for the company, mining, and the bitcoin network. The uncertainty comes from the fact that there are no press releases in the distribution services. And neither WhatsMiner nor MicroBT’s official channels have confirmed the huge development. However, they have retweeted a few cryptic tweets. And it seems as if the product already exists.
Why not just say Assembled in USA?

The WhatsMiner M30S+ that is “Made In USA with imported parts” exists. The man who tweeted the photo, miner Kevin Zhang, recently attended “WhatsMiner Hydro-cooling Show”. A recent press release about the event described it as “MicroBT will partner with HeatCore to offer integrated hydro-cooling mining and heating system. WhatsMiner hydro-cooling show will be held at Titan Energy Park, Bellefonte, PA, USA.”
We are so glad we had the opportunity to attend @Whatsminer_MBT #HydroCoolingShow and witness their new product launch! π«Ά

Did MicroBT announce US production capacity at that event? It looks like that. Slide in this tweet’s first image says “Made In America” ββand has the MicroBT logo at the bottom. “We are so glad we had the opportunity to attend the WhatsMiner Hydro-cooling Show and witness their new product release!,” mining platform Bitdeer tweeted.
What else does the Internet know? Let’s find out!
WhatsMiner and its American partner
The main source is a Chinese journalist Colin Wu, who tweeted:
“Whatsminer, the world’s second largest bitcoin mining machine manufacturer, recently announced the official production of bitcoin mining machines in the United States. It is manufactured by Synos ββCorp. Currently, it mainly produces air-cooled mining machines. The production capacity is currently 10,000 machines per month, and the can be scaled up to 30,000 machines per month in the future.”
He also stated the obvious: “Whatsminer manufactures in the US can reduce taxes and shipping costs for customers.” Traditionally, the production of bitcoin mining machines has been a monopoly of Chinese companies. The production of both Antminer and Whatsminer is done in Asia and exported to the whole world from there. In recent years, the American giant Intel announced and quickly entered the market with its Block scale ASIC.

As the second largest manufacturer of bitcoin mining machines in the world, MicroBT has slowly expanded into North America. The the company operates one “WhatsMiner after-sales repair center” in the USA, two in Canada and two in Kazakhstan. These “repair labs” are mostly for machines still under warranty, and they make a lot more sense now that MicroBT announced US manufacturing capabilities.

What else do we know about the American factory?
Quite a lot, actually. When asked “Why not just say assembled in the US?”, Kevin Zhang shared even more details. The project “apparently encompasses everything by chip level” and has “been secretly in the works for the last 3 years!” Not only that, he shared this video showing the facilities in action:
God it Steve. I knew someone was going to be smart about this. Should have known it was you π
Because it actually produces the boards! Covers everything according to chip level. It’s really good. Been secretly working for the past 3 years! pic.twitter.com/Thx6YbDGDb

This is a small step towards decentralisation, but a step nonetheless. There are still too few companies producing ASICs, but at least production is not limited to one continent anymore. Getting a shipment from the US is cheaper and faster than getting it from Asia. This is a great day for bitcoin mining and for the American continent.

Bitcoin miners everywhere suffer from high energy costs and zero increase in the asset’s price, but the hashrate continues to mark the ATH. Do the miners know something we don’t?
