Lionel Messi signs partnership with Crypto Exchange Bitget
Bitget, a Singapore-based crypto exchange, has recently announced its partnership with Lionel Messi, the iconic Argentine soccer player.
This is Bitget’s way of giving fans an experience and an opportunity to enter and explore the world of crypto.
This partnership will form a kind of commitment between Bitget and Messi, the world of Web3.0, crypto and sports. This collaboration will benefit both industries.
This agreement has been signed ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar. This World Cup will be Lionel Messi’s fifth appearance in the major football tournament.
The partnership also includes a “shared understanding” between both parties, which will help create and commit to much more “effective efforts” that go beyond just crypto and soccer.
Bitget is a leading exchange that was launched in the year 2018. The differential aspects of this exchange were related to products and services related to social trading services.
Messi’s second crypto partnership
This collaboration with Bitget marks Messi’s second crypto-related partnership after he was given the status of a global brand ambassador for Socios earlier this year in March.
That deal with Socios is worth $20 million spread over three years, according to reports. Bitget has also entered the crypto world with partnerships.
The exchange partnered with Italian soccer giant Juventus and esports Team Spirit.
Gracy Chan, CEO of Bitget, mentioned,
We try to reflect the diversity and richness of our platform community in the partnerships we choose. We open up Web 3.0 for sports fans; they open the field for crypto traders. With the World Cup approaching, Messi will lead Argentina to new glory. We are honored to have such a force of nature working with us.
Additionally, Lionel Messi stated,
I wanted to thank Bitget for their enthusiasm in getting me to participate in the crypto world. I trust that both parties can activate meaningful initiatives as well as provide Web 3.0 to sports fans.
Other celebrities have also associated themselves with crypto recently
Lionel Messi has been under crypto influence for a while now. Earlier this year, French football club Paris Saint-German signed a contract with Lionel Messi, which even included what they allegedly called “$PSG Fan Tokens”.
Included in his pay package, the footballer received an undisclosed amount of the club’s fan tokens which associated the footballer with Paris St-Germain fans worldwide.
Celebrities have also become popular in the blockchain world as the industry continues to evolve.
Matt Damon, for example, has partnered with the famous Crypto.com. He is helping to formally introduce the platform to consumers worldwide. Damon was also the global brand and advertising campaign hero for “Fortune Favors the Brave,” which ran in over 20 countries.
