Let’s look at Time Raiders: An NFT Treasure Hunting Game
Time Raiders is a shooter with Play-to-Earn (P2E) elements developed on the Polygon blockchain. Players can win rewards in the form of NFTs as well as the game’s original currency, XPND.
The game is currently in the beta test phase and is about a time-traveling shooting and theft game where assets in the game fall as stolen goods. Let’s take a closer look at the game elements and NFTs in the ecosystem.
Overview and gameplay
Time Raiders are set in the future and players will be able to travel across different settings in time to gain access to different levels, including medieval Europe (Knights and Lords), Edo Period Japan (Samurai), and even the prehistoric era ( dinosaurs). However, the original main setting of the game will take place in Europe from World War II, with the player facing the Nazis.
To begin with, players will start with a basic character that is fully customizable and upgradeable. Players can also recruit companions from different classes, each with class-specific weapons, items, and abilities. These classes are Gunners (rapid-fire / DPS), Ninja Monks (stealth), Snipers, Heavies, Demolition (explosives), Techies (tech) and Peaceniks (support).
The player character and their companions can be upgraded and customized with new equipment, weapons and items. Some companions also give the player access to certain regions, which can encourage players to explore each character and companion class to experience the game as a whole.
Similar to strategy games such as Divinity Original Sin and Dragon Age: Inquisition, some levels will require a specific combination of character classes to discover rare and unique items.
The combat mechanics of the game are about a run-and-gun style where players shoot up waves of different enemies that release stolen items that can be sold, exchanged and used in the game. Bosses release the most valuable loot and give the player a chance to earn a production facility that generates assets in the game that the player can use in their missions.
Facilities include mines, ammunition factories, laboratories and production facilities that must be built and maintained by in-game personnel. Players can bet Xpendium and their NFTs in the facilities and unique resources will be produced based on the facility’s specialty.
NFT resources in the game
Assets in the game exist as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) that can be earned, traded, sold or wagered for Xpendium, the game’s tool token. Despite this, players do not have to buy an NFT to get started, instead they start with a basic character that they can use to earn things in the game, all of which are NFTs.
These NFT funds come in various rarities and include consumables, vehicles and weapons. The first items in the game include planes, tanks, boats and weapons from the WW2 era, as well as prehistoric animals, dinosaur eggs and special characters.
In Closing
Time Raiders is a shooter that includes Play-to-Earn. Elements of the game that exist as NFTs and give players access to multiple levels and actions.
