Leading Global Fintech Moniepoint Appoints Capital One Veteran as Chief Operating Officer
All-in-one business platform Moniepoint (formerly known as TeamApt), today announces the appointment of Pawel Swiatek as Chief Operating Officer.
Pawel joins the business from Capital One, where he served as CEO for over four years. At Capital One, he was responsible for the bank’s financial inclusion program, working to ensure that millions of underbanked people across the US had equitable access to credit by refining the company’s data science system. Before working at Capital One, Pawel was part of the management team at the world’s largest hedge fund, Bridgewater, where in ten years he oversaw the growth from 150 employees to over 2,000. He also previously worked for McKinsey and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.
At Moniepoint, Mr Swiatek will work closely with Moniepoint CEO Tosin and the rest of senior management, overseeing day-to-day business operations and functions. He will relieve Tosin of the day-to-day running of the business, allowing him to focus more on growth as Moniepoint continues to scale globally. Pawel will initially focus on reworking Moniepoint’s operating system, ultimately ensuring that the business is able to more accurately predict growth and key trends through a data science approach.
Pawel Swiatek’s appointment comes shortly after Moniepoint received funding from global fintech venture capital firm QED Investors – their first investment in Africa.
Profitable since day one, Moniepoint is the partner of choice for over 600,000 businesses of all sizes, digitizing the local economy to give Nigeria’s 41 million SMEs equal access to the tools they need to grow and scale. In 2022 alone, Moniepoint processed over $100 billion, facilitated $1.4 billion in disbursed loans with a default rate of less than 1%, processed 8,000 transactions per minute and handled over 55 million unique cards.
Moniepoint co-founder and CEO Tosin Eniolorunda, said: “As we continue to scale and grow, it is critical that we attract the best talent from around the world. Pawel will make a fantastic addition to our senior team and his experience in financial services is second to none. Pawel has an incredible drive and passion to make the world a more financially inclusive place, a common vision that we have long shared at Moniepoint, and I look forward to working with him to bring this to life.”
Moniepoint’s Chief Operating Officer Pawel Swiatek said: “Since meeting Tosin last year, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Moniepoint and the huge potential it has to create real, meaningful change at scale. The team has seen rapid growth in recent years, and part of my role coming in will be taking over the day-to-day running of the business and enabling us to more accurately forecast growth as Moniepoint continues to scale and enter new markets.”
