IR4LAB ends trial of blockchain platform for donation tracking

IR4LAB, a Saudi-headquartered and one of MENA’s leading providers specializing in emerging technologies such as Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence, has used Blockchain technology to monitor food shipments distributed to recipient households, ensuring complete process transparency.

Using DocCerts, the Blockchain solution for issuing, signing and verifying records, IR4LAB was able to generate a distinctive card of authenticity for each container. A unique identification number and QR code was then given to each package, allowing the recipient to scan or enter the ID to check in real time the specifications of the package presented and its contents from the original sender.

In fact, when the package is scanned or confirmed, a record is added to the transaction record, enabling real-time confirmation of delivery. This has culminated in a reduction in the time typically needed to report back to benefactors in comparable procedures.

Furthermore, the platform allows for an authentication protocol, which is particularly beneficial in the case of a transaction involving multiple stakeholders, as is often the case when charitable efforts pass through multiple public, private or non-profit entities.

To strengthen the social fabric, encourage both national and worldwide cooperation, and improve the daily activities of a variety of communities around the world, charitable efforts are an important pillar of humanity. Nevertheless, they are subject to fraudulent activity and misconduct, which can adversely affect trust in benefactors; therefore, a Blockchain-powered tracking platform is needed to reduce these dangers and increase transparency and confidence.

Majd Jamal Alafifi, co-founder and CEO of IR4LAB, said: “This is an excellent example of using technologies including Blockchain for societal benefit and we are pleased to have successfully completed this distinctive endeavor in the region.”

Mohamed EL KANDRI, co-founder and chief technology officer of IR4LAB, stated: “We are extremely excited to be able to use the solutions we have created to help our neighborhoods in a meaningful way, and we feel that cutting-edge technology can achieve more than anything else in compliance with the goals of sustainable development, not only in this area, but globally.”

IR4LAB is looking for partnerships with regional stakeholders and charities to expand this trial venture and leverage technological advances to achieve social development goals.
