InsurTech Breeze teams up with Appalachian Underwriters for disability insurance
Breeze, an InsurTech that wants to simplify how disability insurance is bought and sold, has partnered with insurance wholesaler Appalachian Underwriters (AUI).
Breeze is an online insurance broker, leveraging industry expertise and technology, the company is on a mission to build a better way to distribute income protection insurance.
Policies offered through Breeze replace a portion of a policyholder’s regular income and can be used to help with large medical bills, mortgage payments, groceries and more. Breeze currently offers long-term disability insurance, short-term disability insurance and critical illness insurance.
The partnership will allow health licensed agents and brokers who work with AUI to use Breeze’s turnkey platform for disability insurance.
According to Breeze, AUI’s already strong commercial P&C and workers’ compensation offering will complement its disability insurance offering.
Colin Nabity, CEO and co-founder of Breeze, said: “Whether you are focused on selling home, auto, health or life insurance, income protection is a natural next conversation for agents and advisors. We are thrilled that Appalachian Underwriters has chosen Breeze to power their disability benefits offering and we look forward to supporting their agents.
William Chambers, Director of Digital Partnerships at AUI, added: “We are extremely excited to partner with Breeze to continue our mission to support our agents and agency partners with various new product solutions and tools that increase efficiency. Having seen strong success with our recent entry into the life insurance space, the partnership with Breeze is perfect to represent AUI’s first foray into the healthcare market.”
Last year, Breeze closed a $10 million Series A funding round led by Link Ventures with participation from Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, Silicon Valley Bank, M25, Fiat Ventures and Invest Nebraska.
Aflac, a provider of supplemental health insurance products, recently launched an enhanced Aflac Individual Short-Term Disability Insurance product. The new policy goals help employers better support the changing needs of their workers amid economic uncertainty and enduring pandemic challenges.
