IDC Fintech Rankings 2022: The Most Valuable and Most Effective Fintech Companies
Market intelligence firm IDC has published the 2022 IDC Fintech Rankings, a list of technology providers based on calendar year revenue from financial institutions for hardware, software and/or services.
The featured vendors provide the technological backbone of the financial services industry, an industry where IDC estimates worldwide spending on information technology solutions to reach $590 billion by 2025.
The rankings have two main lists: the IDC Fintech Rankings Top 100, which names the top 100 vendors that roughly derive more than a third of their revenue from the financial services and fintech industries; and the IDC Fintech Rankings Enterprise Top 25, which ranks the most successful enterprise companies that serve multiple industries but derive roughly a third or less of their revenue from the financial services and fintech industries.
Top 100 fintech companies
At the top of this year’s IDC Fintech Top 100 ranking are three US financial services software companies: FIS, Fiserv and SS&C Technologies.
The 2022 selection also has a number of newcomers. These 16 companies, also referred to as Emerging Fintechs, are:
- Anhui Joyin Information Technology (China), the operator of newspaper management app Joyin;
- Asseco (Poland), a banking and financial software company;
- BPC Banking Technologies (Switzerland), a payment technology company;
- Bravura Solutions (Australia), a provider of wealth management and transfer software solutions;
- CCC Intelligent Solutions (USA), a provider of solutions for integrated claims management, collision repair and insurance assessment services;
- Duck Creek Technologies (USA), a property and casualty insurance software provider;
- Featurespace (UK), a fraud and financial crime specialist;
- Informa Financial Intelligence (USA), a financial institution competitive benchmarking, customer analysis and specialized data company;
- MeridianLink (USA), a developer of multi-channel system developers;
- Sinqia (Brazil), a provider of software applications in the financial industry;
- Smart Communications (Philippines), a wireless communications and digital services subsidiary of PLDT Inc;
- Solifi (US), a software development company for financial institutions and equipment leasing companies;
- Sunline (China), a banking software and technology services company;
- Upstart (USA), a lending platform that works with banks and credit unions to provide consumer loans using non-traditional variables;
- VeriPark (UK), a provider of customer experience solutions for financial institutions; and
- XQuant (South Korea), a quantitative financial analysis software developer.
Fast growing fintech companies
Among the companies on the Top 100 list are the 25 “Fast Track Fintechs” that have moved up significantly in the ranking from last year:
- ACI Worldwide (USA), a payment systems company;
- Backbase (Netherlands), a banking technology company offering engagement banking services;
- Black Knight (US), a software provider to the mortgage, servicing and real estate industries, as well as the capital and secondary markets;
- Blend Labs (US), a cloud banking infrastructure provider;
- Broadridge Financial Services (USA), a services and financial technology company;
- CEC GienTech (China), a digital transformation strategy and solutions provider;
- Envestnet (USA), a company that provides wealth management technology and products to financial advisors and institutions;
- FactSet Research Systems (USA), a financial data and software company;
- Finastra (UK), a retail banking, transaction banking, lending and financial capital markets solutions company;
- GFT Technologies (Germany), a digital transformation specialist;
- Glory Global Solutions (Japan), a provider of cash technology solutions;
- Hexaware Technologies (India), a provider of information technology and business process outsourcing services;
- Hundsun Technologies (China), a software and financial data provider for financial institutions;
- LTI (India), an IT services and consulting company;
- Murex (France), a trading, treasury, risk and post-trade operations software provider for financial markets;
- NCR (USA), a software, consulting and technology company;
- Nice Ltd./Nice Actimize (USA), a provider of financial crime, risk and compliance solutions for financial institutions and regulators;
- Pegasystems (USA), a customer relationship management and business process management software developer;
- Q2 (US), a company specializing in providing smart and end-to-end banking and lending experiences;
- Sinosoft (China), a provider of image management platforms, audit management systems, financial management systems, official automation systems and other software products;
- SmartStream Technologies (UK), a financial transaction management company;
- Temenos (Switzerland), a company specializing in enterprise software for banks and financial services;
- Teradata (US), a software company that provides cloud databases and analytics-related software, products and services;
- Wolters Kluwer (Netherlands), a company that provides services and solutions for professionals in the healthcare, tax and accounting, risk and compliance, finance and legal sectors;
- Yusys Technologies (China), a company that provides channel management systems, mobile banking, credit operations, big data and internet financing solutions.
In addition to the Top 100, the second category, Enterprise Top 25, named Microsoft the best provider of enterprise technology involved in the fintech and finance sectors. Microsoft is followed by IBM, Dell, Deloitte and Accenture.
Fintech awards winners
IDC also unveiled the winners of its IDC Fintech Rankings Real Results Awards, which recognize IT providers who have enabled tangible change at clients’ financial institutions.
ServiceNow, an American software company that develops a cloud computing platform to help companies manage digital workflows for business operations, was named the 2022 winner. It was also recognized as the winner in the Treasury and Trade Transformation, and Next Generation Payments categories.
CCC Intelligent Solutions and Featurespace, two newcomers to this year’s top 100 ranking, were named the winners in the Efficiency and Agility, and Digital Trust and Stewardship categories respectively.
Q2, one of the Emerging Fintech Companies of 2022, was recognized as the winner in the Omni-Experience Customer Engagement category. And Moody’s Analytics, a Top 100 company, was named the winner in the Lending Transformation category.
