How the boys trolled Donald Trump’s NFT trading card after teasing ‘BIG ANNOUNCEMENT’
The creatives at the show followed with a “huge announcement” of their own.
Donald Trump may think the country needs a new superhero … but his latest venture didn’t go so well with the soups from “The Boys.”
On Wednesday, the ex-POTUS teased that he would “make a BIG announcement” on Thursday, exclaiming on his Truth Social page that “AMERICA NEEDS A SUPERHERO!” When the big reveal came, however, the “BIG” announcement was simply that he was releasing a bunch of ridiculous NFTs — or “digital trading cards” — that showed him in a superhero costume for $99 a piece.

“The Boys” lead Antony Starr was one of the first from the show to react to the ridiculous photos – sharing one on his Instagram page, followed by a similar photo of him as the villainous Homelander on the Prime Video show.
“Why wasn’t I notified about the new character in season four?” he captioned the photo, along with some cry-laugh emojis and a turkey. “This is a sim.”
Costar Karl Urban also weighed in on Starr’s comments, adding: “If I were you, I’d talk to wardrobe about his cape, it can’t be the SAME as yours!!” Laz Alonso also joked, “Trumplander?” — while Joel McHale simply burst into laughter and wrote “Hahahahahahaa.”
“Big announcement.” This is a funnier win than I could write btw. And he has the flag cape!! #The boys #GutteneTV @TheBoysTV @PrimeVideo pic.twitter.com/l86m7sJEq1

“The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke also got some laughs from the revelation when he highlighted the similarities between Trump and Homelander — who, it bears repeating, is an absolutely terrible person and the show’s villain.
“‘Big Announcement.’ This is a funnier salary than I could write, by the way,” wrote Erikpe side by side. “And he has the flag cape!!”
This isn’t the first time Kripke has commented on these comparisons between Trump and Homelander, after at least one of his supporters picked on the character at a pro-Trump rally back in 2020. At the time, the showrunner shared a photo, adding: “Um… Do they actually watch the show?”
The official Twitter page of Vought International, the conglomerate that makes soups on the series, further trolled Trump by sharing its own “Korme announcement.”
“Big announcement: Official Homelander digital trading cards have arrived!” the account posted, along with a photo of Starr’s character.
“Celebrate our greatest hero’s life and crime-fighting career by owning an authentic and non-fungible JPEG of him. Buy now for 777 VoughtCoin while you still can!”
