How Formula 1 and NFTs came together
Red Bull Racing made history last month when their Formula 1 Grand Prix vehicles featured top NFT avatar Project Azuki in Abu Dhabi. In collaboration with Bybit, Azuki’s developer Chiru Labs created a never-before-seen NFT artwork inspired by the industry’s largest anime NFT collection. But what does it mean for the future of web3 and racing.
Lightning Azuki NFT hits Formula 1
The NFT, known as Lightning Azuki, along with the Bybit exchange logo, adorned the Red Bull Racing vehicles. Exciting for both web3 and racing fans! The team’s principal partner, Christian Horner, highlighted the partnership’s collaboration with Web3, saying “It has been an eye-opener for us to the enormous possibilities Web3 offers. This unique project is the perfect combination of creativity, innovation and passion and matches our ethos on the pitch.”
Regarding the partnership, Bybit tweeted to say “Bybit worked with Red Bull Racing to put an Azuki on the race car *for free*. We also pushed to print Azuki on the Bybit side chassis logo point (one of the most valuable Bybit assets) because Bybit wanted to go all out for this historic showcase and web2*web3 crossover”.
8,494 limited edition copies of Lightning Azuki were distributed for free on a first-come, first-served basis using the Bybit NFT marketplace.
