Here’s a $16,000,000,000,000 Blockchain Opportunity by 2030, According to Consulting Giant BCG
The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) believes that blockchain technology presents a huge business opportunity by 2030.
The global consulting giant says in a new report that “on-chain asset tokenization” can help tackle the challenge of asset illiquidity.
According to the Boston Consulting Group, the value of tokenized assets worldwide will exceed $15 trillion in the next eight years, an amount estimated to be equivalent to 10% of global gross domestic product by then.
“The total size of tokenization of illiquid assets globally will be $16 trillion by 2030.”
The value of tokenized assets is currently at $310 billion.
The global consulting giant says one of the characteristics of illiquid assets that include land, art, commodities and private equity is that they are usually undervalued.
“All things being equal, illiquid assets typically trade at a discount to liquid assets, and are characterized by a high stock-to-flow ratio, lower trading volume, and imperfect price discovery versus liquid assets.”
According to the Boston Consulting Group, asset tokenization helps unlock the value of illiquid assets.
“On-chain asset tokenization provides an opportunity to avoid many of these barriers to asset illiquidity, as well as the current modality of traditional fractionation.
Onchain asset tokenization helps reimagine the end-to-end process of finding and matching investors with investment opportunities, and the subsequent secondary market opportunities once an investment is made.”
