The highly anticipated NFT-powered game Guild of Guardians (GoG) has delayed its alpha launch again, the team announced on social media. The new version that was originally supposed to launch at the end of this year has been postponed until 2023. Accordingly, the team will use the extra time to improve the game loop and other core elements to ensure a successful release.
With 300,000 waiting list members eagerly awaiting the drop, community members can’t help but wonder: is this worth it?
On October 12, the Guild of Guardians (GoG) revealed that their alpha launch will take place in 2023 instead of this quarter. The popular game’s team shared the two main reasons for the decision in a detailed blog post.
Initially, the team aims to further improve the game’s existing gameplay elements. The delay will also allow creators to get more community feedback for a successful launch.
Second, the team cited the unpredictability of Web3 technology. Each step forward towards innovation also means a new challenge, the team explained.
“We are making great progress and plan to announce an updated launch date as soon as possible. While demanding timelines can be difficult, we are committed to sharing regular progress updates for the community to follow, and will likely continue to run private playtests as we getting closer to the launch.” Guild of Guardians project founders added.
Essentially, Guild of Guardians is an RPG mobile game powered by NFTs. The game features play-to-earn mechanics with unique characters and summoning. Each player uses their character to participate in battles, evolve, and even trade NFTs. Of course, the higher the level of an NFT grade, the higher the price.
Surprisingly, the game’s innovative lore attracted thousands of NFT collectors and players. Right now, more than 300,000 users have signed up to the waiting list for the game’s upcoming alpha launch.
“We know this will be disappointing news to those eagerly awaiting, but the Guild of Guardians team values transparency and we want to share the logic behind this decision with the community as soon as possible,” wrote the founding team.
