From Zero to Hero in Blockchain Security – A CP Workshop at DEF CON 30

DEF CON is one of the world’s largest and most notable cyber conventions, held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada. DEF CON first took place in June 1993 and today attendees include computer security professionals, journalists, lawyers, federal government employees, security researchers, students and hackers with a general interest in software, computer architecture, hardware modification and more.

The event consists of multiple tracks of speakers with sessions on technology and hacking-related topics, as well as cyber security challenges and related competitions.

This year, DEF CON 30 will be held 11-14. August at Caesars Forum + Flamingo, Harrah’s and Linq in Las Vegas!

Each DEF CON event has a theme. At the conference on 30th anniversary this year, the theme is ‘Hacker Homecoming’. The organizers envisioned a conference that would inspire security experts, discussions representing hackers and hacking, and sessions defining the term “hacker”.

To get a speaking slot at DEF CON, you must go through the CFP review team. This team determines what determines which subjects are eligible and worthy.
This year, researchers from the Check Point Research (CPR) team will be presenting at the event. Check Point researchers presenting at the event include:

  • Oded Vanunu, Head of Product Vulnerability Research
  • Dikla Barda, security expert
  • Roman Zaikin, security expert

The team will run a 4-hour workshop session titled “From Zero to Hero in Blockchain Security” and will talk about Blockchain Hacking.

Blockchain technology is one of the most important technological innovations to take place in recent years. The main emerging development trends for blockchain are cryptocurrencies, NFT, Defi and metaverse. Today, companies are adopting blockchain technology and moving towards a decentralized world. Especially smart contract technologies, which inevitably make organizations more vulnerable to cyber attacks in a new crypto world. As technology evolves, so do cybercriminals.

Check Point’s workshop will describe what Blockchain and smart contracts are and what security vulnerabilities they possess. The workshop is designed for beginners and intermediate level cyber security specialists who are interested in learning about blockchain and crypto hacking techniques, based on dApps TOP 10 v2022.

In this workshop, Check Point researchers will show how security experts can find vulnerabilities in blockchain smart contracts according to the latest methods and techniques. This workshop will show examples of vulnerabilities in the blockchain and demonstrate everything from an attacker and defense perspective.

See you at DEF CON!
