If this is true, the giant automaker may be trying to tap into the rising metaverse industry.

The documents were first disclosed by Mike Kondoudis, an attorney at the USPTO (United States Patent and Trade Office).

“The company has filed 19 trademark applications for all its major brands and claims plans for,” Kondoudis said via his official Twitter posts.

Is Ford entering the Metaverse?

According to Gadget 360’s latest report, the newly leaked trademark application files suggest that Ford is entering the metaverse.

Based on the screenshot provided by Kondoudis, the upcoming NFT and virtual vehicles include Ford’s top models, such as the Bronco, Mustang, Explorer, F-150 Lightning, Lincoln and other models.

Apart from these, the trademark applications also revealed that Ford is planning to launch downloadable virtual goods.

These include computer programs containing automotive components and accessories.

Virtual clothing for online fairs, which will be conducted in the metaverse, is also expected to arrive.

Other Metaverse plans for Ford

Apart from the aforementioned NFTs, virtual cars and other digital goods, the giant American multinational carmaker may also be working on a new digital marketplace.

This platform is expected to promote other companies’ digital artwork.

Ford’s metaverse plan was revealed after the company’s CEO, Jim Farley, announced that they would be implementing massive job cuts.

At the time of writing, Ford isn’t the only automaker interested in the growing metaverse industry.

Hyundai, Toyota and Nissan also announced their plans to enter the virtual world.

On the other hand, Bently and Lamborghini have already launched their NFT collections.

All efforts from other car manufacturers clearly show that the automotive industry and the metaverse world may soon merge, creating a new virtual experience.
