First La Flor Dominicana NFT Humidor sells for $85,000
La Flor Dominicana’s first NFT was sold for $85,000 yesterday.
NFT were sold via the UREEQA platform and offered on the Ethereum blockchain. The NFT looks like La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull Toritos, a 6 1/4 x 41 lonsdale version of the Andalusian bull, now referred to as The golden bull as part of the NFT project.
La Flor Dominicana plans to issue seven NFTs. Owners of the NFTs will be able to purchase 70 of The Golden Bull cigars per month, actual cigars not more NFTs. If the token is sold, the new owner will also be able to purchase The Golden Bull cigars for as long as they own the token. The Andalusian beef blend uses an Ecuadorian corojo wrapper over a Dominican binder and Dominican fillers grown at Estancia La Flor de Palma. It is not sold in stores, but La Flor Dominicana has used it for a number of other projects in recent years.
In addition, each auction winner will receive a Gold Bullion Humidor, a 50-count humidor that will be personalized to each auction winner.
The first Andalusian bull The Golden NFT auction received 26 bids, some of which came from cigar dealers. The second auction is scheduled to end tomorrow, Monday, August 15, and had a minimum bid of more than 25 ETH, more than $48,000 as of Sunday afternoon.
This is not the first time La Flor Dominicana has created a membership program to distribute these specific cigars. La Flor Dominicana has done a similar thing with its Fleur D’Or Club, a club created for people who bought one of the company’s high-end cutters, which started at $16,000 when they were announced. Owners of the cutters are part of the Fleur D’Or Club, which entitles them to purchase special releases, including Andalusian bull Toritos.
This isn’t the first time a cigar company has created an NFT project, United Cigars announced a project in 2021 centered around the Atabey Black, which it hinted at as a future cigar.
