Fintech moves: Citi, Knightsbridge, Kashet

As the world navigates rising inflation and recession fears, financial firms remain robust in their strategy to leverage technology for growth. To achieve this, this week’s fintech moves saw financial services and technology providers bring in talent to improve their capabilities.

Citi

After nearly four years at Standard Chartered Bank, technology and operations veteran Leena Shah has accepted a new position at Citi as program director and chief of staff at the CEO level. The move marks her return to London from Singapore after six years in Asia.

At Standard Chartered Bank, Shah worked as global head, sustainability for transformation, technology and operations, creating and executing TTO’s sustainability strategy. She held the position for a year and a half, following an eight-month stint as global head of diversity culture and learning, technology services and a five-month stint as senior business manager, technology services.

Before joining Standard Chartered Bank, she was VP – Line Business manager and portfolio manager at Credit Suisse from 2014 to 2018.

Knightsbridge

The British specialist insurance company Knightsbridge has a new chief technology officer for the group in Tom Cooksey. He starts at the company after 12 years of running his own business.

Cooksey has an extensive technology background, having worked as a software engineer and web developer for companies such as Infogov, Semantic, Vodafone, Electronic Arts and Camelot, among others. After that, he has taken on several challenges in his career, including as a consultant for OTRO, CEO for Logic Room and CTO for OrderZing, among others.

As a founder, he established IR35.io, a platform to manage risks associated with hiring contractors due to IR35 tax legislation. Knightsbridge Group acquired the platform in 2020.

North Cape

Software developer Måns Haegert has taken up a position as development and operations manager at the property tax management system supplier, Nordkap, after more than three years with the company.

His new company has not yet been announced, but he is expected to continue working from Stockholm, Sweden.

Haegert had taken over the role of development and operations manager in Nordkap in August 2020, five months after serving as acting manager. Before that, he was a senior software developer at the company for almost a year.

The cachet

Former Semafone (now Sycurio) CIO Ben Rafferty has joined digital financial services provider Kashet as its new chief technology officer. Rafferty takes up the new position after almost two years of self-employment as a consultant.

Prior to consulting, Rafferty spent almost nine years at data security company Semafone, where he worked his way up from program manager in 2011 to chief innovation officer in 2019. He spent more than a year as CIO at Semafone.
