Fintech Company Touch And Pay Technologies launches Interstate Booking solution

Nigerian fintech company Touch and Pay Technologies (TAP) has launched an interstate booking solution that aims to democratize interstate travel from Nigeria’s most populous city, Lagos, to other parts of the country.

The service which is now available to all formal and informal inter-state travel operators in the country will now see passengers pay for their rides using the Cowry app even if they are traveling through multiple states in the country.

TAP’s easy-to-use interstate booking feature on the Cowry app automates payment and seat allocation and collects valuable data on passenger bookings and travel habits for use by transport companies to improve their operations. The startup has also entered into a partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation to accredit and acquire all inter-city bus parks in the state.

This partnership will provide a unified system for regulating transport routes, timetables, prices and capacities which have been challenging for the state and operators until now.

Co-founder and CEO of Touch and Pay Technologies, Olamide Afolabi, spoke about the rollout of his new transport ordering solution,

TAP is proud to be the first service to level the playing field when it comes to transportation in Lagos. Commuters often have to reserve tickets in advance to avoid queuing. Previously, bus passengers had to physically visit counters and speak to attendants to book and pay for their rides.

This is no longer the case. Customers taking an interstate trip can now access the details of their journey, including the ability to purchase tickets and choose seats of their choice, without having to leave their home.

Co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of Touch and Pay Technologies also commented on the project, said Michael Oluwole,

Our interstate booking feature offers commuters convenience and enables transport providers to invest in improving interstate travel. By reducing the need for cash transactions, transport companies can streamline operations and reduce expenses. Our new app can be seen as a win-win for both commuters and transport providers, as it contributes to a more efficient and comfortable public transport system.”
