Elon Musk Announces Twitter Moderation Advisory Amid NFT Move By CoinEdition
- Elon Musk announces the creation of a Twitter Content Moderation Council.
- Binance has promised to help Twitter fight bots using blockchain technology.
- Twitter to allow NFT purchases via tweets
On Friday, Musk said he had completed the takeover, fired senior management and replaced them with a new “content moderation council” that would gather “many views” on the matter. “No major content decisions or reintroduction of accounts will occur until the council meets,” he added.
However, this has not stopped users from either praising or condemning Musk’s promises to reduce moderation in an effort to promote free speech. A question that remains is how this will affect the cryptocurrency space.
Musk has indicated several times that his primary motivation for buying Twitter was to encourage free speech and open dialogue around the world. This is good news for the cryptocurrency community as Twitter has quickly become the hub of crypto-related cultural expression. Musk’s leniency ensures businesses can continue to use the social media platform for expansion.
Musk has proposed adding cryptocurrency support to Twitter’s existing payment options. While he has been tight-lipped about specifics, he has hinted at the possibility that he could use payments to turn the service into an “everything app” that is “so compelling you can’t live without it.”
Meanwhile, Twitter appears to be focusing on integrating crypto wallets into its infrastructure, suggesting the social media is already building tools in line with Musk’s ambitions. Musk has hinted several times that Twitter will support payments so this development shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
The eradication of robots is also high on Musk’s list of priorities. Twitter has become notorious for these scams that try to trick cryptocurrency users out of their holdings. Cryptocurrency exchange Binance plans to help Musk with this mission by establishing an internal team to advise Twitter on how to combat bot accounts that exploit blockchain and cryptocurrency.
Meanwhile, on October 28, Twitter stated that it would partner with four exchanges to allow users to buy, sell and display NFTs directly through tweets. This integration, known as NFT Tweet Tiles, displays NFT’s artwork in a tiled panel within a Tweet, with a link to the corresponding item on the Marketplace.
