Dorian Nakamoto speaks out, government contracts reveal past

Dorian Nakamoto denied involvement in Bitcoin’s development.

In a video shared by @CryptoNews YesDorian Nakamoto clarified that he had nothing to do with building Bitcoin (BTC) – saying he was “just an engineer doing something else.”

“The main reason I am here is to clear my name; that I have nothing to do with Bitcoin, nothing to do with development.”

Furthermore, he revealed that during the early development of Bitcoin in 2001, he worked as a public contractor – he did not specify the nature of this role.

When presented with copies of messages — presumably from the Bitcointalk.org forum where Satoshi Nakamoto communicated development progress — Dorian Nakamoto said, “I’ve never communicated with Bitcoins” — adding that in 2010, when the messages were dated, “was I at home.”

The Satoshi Nakamoto Mystery

The identity of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto is shrouded in mystery.

The Bitcoin community has put forward several likely candidates, including the late Hal Finney – a cryptographer who was heavily involved in the development of Bitcoin. Finney was the first recipient of a BTC transfer, and some speculate that he sent the first Bitcoins to himself.

Programmer Nick Szabo is another popular choice. Szabo had already developed a decentralized, proof-of-work virtual currency called “Bit gold,” and published his paper in 1998 — more than a decade before Bitcoin rolled out.

More recently, with the discovery of the Bitcoin Whitepaper embedded in all Mac operating systems from Catalina onwards, there has been renewed speculation linking Steve Jobs to Satoshi Nakamoto.

However, the individual or group that created Bitcoin is considered technically competent at coding and cryptography – something Jobs was not.

Apple co-founder Steven Wozniak said Jobs never coded, but was skilled enough to “change and change and add other designs” occasionally. Wozniak describes Jobs more as a visionary.

“Steve never coded. He wasn’t an engineer, and he didn’t make any original designs.”

Dorian Nakamoto

Public information about Dorian Nakamoto described him as an American-Japanese physicist who had adopted libertarian views after being fired from his job several times.

Since being “exposed” by Newsweek in 2014, Dorian has consistently denied being Satoshi Nakamoto – saying the connection has caused him and his family frequent stress.

“I did not create, invent or otherwise work with Bitcoin. I unconditionally deny the Newsweek report.”

In a random twist, Dorian at one point lived near Finney in Temple City, California.
