Donald Trump’s NFT collection is out, and here are the strongest reactions
Recent Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump teased a big announcement coming today. People speculated what it would be, some entertained imaginations, but it turned out to be a room to get a Trump NFT.
Yes, the former leader of the free world and 76-year-old one-time New York resident is now in the non-fungible token space. The pieces – which can be grabbed with a copy and paste – are apparently inspired by Trump’s life and times. Each retails for $99, those who buy can enter a competition to meet the man himself, and – if you haven’t seen them – we’ve included some below and some of the reactions to the reveal from the former steak seller on social media that caught our attention.
For a pair of self-described conservative comedians, the moment is also disappointing given Trump’s comeback attempt to inhabit the White House again and how many opposed to the current administration view the state of the nation. They feel it pushes people away, and considering the love for Trump among the right, that negative sentiment is certainly eye-opening.
Later, another invokes the stereotype that those who are more conservative are older than a former associate of Trump. In the photo, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani is fiddling with a mobile phone. Giuliani has made headlines in recent years for his problems with technology, and it’s also possible that many of Trump’s older supporters have never heard of NFTs.
Other comments mock the man while some say that this is in reality a brilliant troll by those in the community who mock him. Although, for one, this isn’t the important thing, and instead he’s reminding people that NFTs don’t have the inherent value of other purchases.
If you are interested in purchasing some, they are available at collecttrumpcards.com. Whether they will end up worthy of standing alongside his former business ventures such as Trump Vodka, Trump Taj Mahal, Trump’s Castle, the Trump board game, Trump Magazine or the ongoing Truth Social venture remains to be seen. For now, fans and haters can only wait, watch and comment. Or spend some money and potentially win a gala dinner with the man, an individual greeting, a cocktail hour, golf with the president, have a personal call with him on Zoom, be in a group chat or receive some hand-signed memorabilia of some kind. Other available items include a book, gold and “hand signed” versions of the basic NFTs and some mystery prizes as well.
