Creator Of Mfers NFT Is Back On Twitter As “Sartoshi RIP”
Top Meme NFT Collection MFer’s founder Sartoshi has returned to Twitter, going by the name “Sartoshi RIP” (@sartoshi_rip). After months of their disappearance and speculation about their return, the NFT meme creator has finally put out a statement. In it, the anonymous entity ‘Sartoshi’ narrates the gradual disappearance and reappearance, and lays out their plans for the future. Who is the founder of MFer’s NFT project Sartoshi?
In early 2021, an anonymous NFT collector called Sartoshi first appeared on the scene. The anonymous NFT founder began uploading and creating digital artwork as well as a handmade character to embody their future successful stick figure meme NFT brand “MFers”. After launching in November 2021, the NFT token successfully generated ~$1.5 million in sales. No community restrictions, an all cc0 project, no roadmap, and most of all, no one lords over the project. By early 2022, the anonymous founder had a following of over 100,000.
At this point, many MFers in the community speculated what it would be like for the project to have no leader. After all, the idea that a leaderless project with a founder who disappears into the ether would mimic the mysterious Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto would be a priceless coincidence. And that’s when Sartoshi pondered the idea. In Sartoshi’s recent Mirror post, the founder explains that he thought it would be “a powerful event to abandon everything and transfer MF’s smart contract to the community.” In addition, through this move, all authority surrounding the MFers project is handed over to the community.
Sartoshi made a final open edition MFer drawing to close the deal. This character said “GN Mfer’s” instead of the project’s original drawing which says “Gm”. On 6/9/21 this “End Of Sartoshi” character NFT was released to the public for sale. And just like that, Sartoshi vanished into thin air. The MFers contract was sent to the unofficial.eth multi-sig wallet and the founder was never heard from again.
Sartoshi’s return
After months of their disappearance from the NFT industry and speculation of yet another account, @MinisterOfNFTs could be Sartoshi, the real Sartoshi has returned to the scene! In their Mirror post, the founder claims that they will start with their new account “@Sartoshi_RIP” and re-enter the room as a collector. The founder also states that the “End Of Sartoshi” NFTs will serve as an ongoing passport that unlocks free claims to top tier NFT projects! The project will continue as a leaderless organisation. Furthermore, the royalties on the End Of Sartoshi pieces are at 0%.
Starting in 2023, the NFT space is witnessing the meme lord’s return at full speed. The project will deliver first-class memory and entertainment in web3. And giving the community access to even more projects is just the cherry on top!
