Competitors battle it out in the eight-day hackathon, and top blockchain firms follow suit

An eight-day hackathon has officially kicked off in Asia – with talented competitors getting the chance to unlock exciting new career opportunities.

Morpheus Labs says the competition coincides with Singapore Blockchain Week and its partners have played a crucial role in making the event a success.

The company says it has carefully cultivated a Web3 ecosystem that allows players across the industry, both large and small, to connect and collaborate.

Numen Cyber and ChainUp are among Morpheus Labs’ partners – both hope to learn more about the latest trends in Web3, market their offerings and find new ways to work with businesses across the sector.

ChainUp Group Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Mei told Cointelegraph: “Web3 is undoubtedly the future of digital, and this hackathon offers a timely opportunity for us to discover inventive solutions to real business challenges and uncover new talent to grow with us.”

He added that continuous innovation “has always been a crucial part of ChainUp’s core DNA” – with the company maintaining a commitment to further research and implementation of unique technologies that drive blockchain adoption. Given how quickly this industry is moving, such a mentality is nothing short of essential.

Numen Cyber - which boasts a team of threat analysts, ethical hackers and security researchers – says it looks forward to seeing how Web3 technology evolves across the continent, and stands ready to ensure that the ground-breaking ideas created during the hackathon is carried out in a secure manner.

Much to look forward to

Morpheus Labs says it has been delighted to have received the support of so many prominent sponsors – with hundreds of people signing up to take part in the hackathon in a short space of time.

Looking ahead, it is determined to continue building the Web3 ecosystem – and hold an even bigger event involving more partners within 12 months. The goal? To further shape the Web3 landscape in the APAC region.

As previously reported by Cointelegraph, the hackathon has a grand prize including cash, Huawei Cloud Credits and a laptop.

Participants have just four days to begin socializing and brainstorming to decide what they want to build – and then deliver a video demo that powerfully illustrates their concept in action. Judging will take place on 26 and 27 July, paving the way for an awards ceremony on 28 July – and the winners will be announced.

It has been called “the ultimate event for blockchain developers,” with more than 1,000 people in attendance. Industry experts are also on hand to deliver their insights, with a range of educational courses promoting understanding of where the market is headed.

Hackathon competitors have been encouraged to focus their efforts on creating solutions that address the UN’s 17 Social Development Goals. They include eliminating poverty, promoting good health and quality education, and championing clean energy and equality.

It will be fascinating to find out who emerges victorious in this competition – and how the new perspectives on what Web3 should look like will end up shaping this sector in the months and years ahead. The crypto winters are for construction, and Morpheus Labs is convinced that it is a very exciting time to be in this space.
