Close partners WEMADE to support Blockchain App Development

Close to open source, climate-neutral blockchain and Blockchain Operating System (BOS) creator, today announced a strategic partnership with leading blockchain gaming company WEMADE to support the development of blockchain apps in Korea and other markets.

Near and WEMADE will jointly support initiatives to increase mutual brand awareness; invest in research and collaboration across chains; host more community events such as hackathons and boot camps; and scouting potential Web3 business opportunities and nurturing the next generation of Web3 developers.

A renowned industry leader in game development, Korea-based WEMADE is leading a once-in-a-generation shift as the gaming industry moves to blockchain technology. The WEMIX subsidiary is building an experience-based, platform-driven and service-oriented mega-ecosystem that will provide users everywhere with access to a wide range of intuitive, convenient and user-friendly Web3 services and applications.

This is Near’s second major brand partnership announcement in Korea after it partnered with Kakao Games’ METABORA earlier this year. South Korea has been at the forefront of setting trends and leading technological research and is ranked among the top 10 nations on the Global Innovation Index by the World Intellectual Property Organization. There has been consistent investment in the Web3 blockchain gaming industry, with more than $500 million invested between October and November last year.
