Acclaimed artist Jack Butcher has released an extraordinary collection entitled “Checks Elements”, consisting of 152 pieces of physical monoprints accompanied by non-fungible token (NFT) counterparts on chain. This ground-breaking project explores the intersection of digital and physical art, highlighting the symbiotic relationship between manual and automated processes. The collaboration between Butcher, legendary printmaker Jean Milant and Cirrus Editions brings together handcrafted physical artwork and computer-generated instructions stored securely on the Ethereum blockchain. A selection of the collection, featuring the “Alpha” elements – Earth, Air and Water – will be exhibited at Christie’s New York from May 20 to May 23.
‘Checks Elements’ revolves around the classic elements – Earth, Fire, Water and Air – and consists of six tiers of releases: Alpha, Order, Isolate, Composite, Compound and Complete. Each piece in the collection is a unique generative work of art on the Ethereum blockchain. The physical monoprints are painstakingly handcrafted using a Mailander 202 lithographic printing press, following the exact instructions gleaned from their corresponding NFTs.
Checking Christie’s Auction
The auction for the alpha elements – earth, air and water – starts at Christie’s on 16 May. The remaining artwork will become available on May 23rd, which marks the 100th day of checks. Each auction level allows check, Openpen or V/V 1:1 holders to earn an Infinity Check bidder issue NFT for participating in the auctions.
“Checks Elements” represents a ground-breaking fusion of physical and digital art, bringing together the tangible and the virtual in a seamless manner. Jack Butcher’s relentless innovation within the Checks ecosystem demonstrates his commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring new avenues of artistic expression. Despite recent fluctuations in the NFT market, Butcher and his team continue to promote Checks and Open, offering new perspectives on the future of art.
The check collections, including Originals and Editions, have experienced a slight decline over the past month, with declines of 22% and 32% respectively. The floor prices for these collections are at 0.32 and 0.42 ETH, indicating ongoing interest and potential for growth.
“Checks Elements” represents an exciting convergence of physical and digital art, blurring the lines between traditional craftsmanship and blockchain technology. With its unique blend of monoprints and NFTs, this collection pushes artistic boundaries and paves the way for future innovations in the art world.
TL;DR: “Checks Elements” is a groundbreaking collection by artist Jack Butcher, featuring 152 physical monoprints alongside NFT counterparts on chain. The project explores the relationship between physical and digital art, and combines manual and automated processes. The collection will be auctioned at Christie’s, starting with Alpha Elements: Earth, Air, and Water. The remaining parts will be available on the 100th day of checks.
