Cardano NFT: Yummi Universe – The Cryptonomist

This week’s guest on Cardano NFT column is a project that is build a Play To Earn ecosystem that draws inspiration from the famous Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Digimon: Yummy universe.

Last week’s guest was one pixel art project that is among the first 10k NFT collections.

This initiative is a reference point for NFTs on Cardano and every week or so we will invite someone to answer some questions and give us an update directly from the Cardano community.

Considering that many of our readers are new to the crypto space, we want one mix of simple and technical questions.

Cardano NFT Project: Yummi Universe

Hi, great to have you here. Introduce your team, where are you from, what is your background?

Thank you for getting in touch! Yummi Universe started as a small project by founders David and Shannonwhich operated one of the first stake pools on Cardano (ENACT). The founders have since gathered a team of individuals who have been passionate about the project ever since they discovered it.

Our team consists of 11 members from almost all over the world while our two founders are based in London. We have different backgrounds such as graphic design, game development, web development, music composition, cyber security, business, entrepreneurship and computer science.

What is the Yummi Universe? What kind of NFTs have you created and why have you chosen Cardano for your project?

Yummi Universe aims to bring one collection of creatures similar to Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon and Moshi Monsters to the blockchain realm.

We have let go more collections of the adorable mascot, Naruand is actively working to develop one full-fledged ecosystem that leverages our existing NFTsas well as new tokens designed specifically to be in our upcoming P2E games.

Why we chose Cardano is because Cardano is awesome! We believed in what Charles talked about and the power of decentralization and a fairer system (Especially his TED talk”The future will be decentralized“). This is why we have been invested in Cardano since its launch in 2017. When NFTs came out, David contacted the co-founder (Shannon) and they brought the Hungry Naru brand to Cardano under the new name, Yummi Universe.

You are developing a game, please tell us more. Will it be Play-to-Earn? What do you think of this game model?

Yes! We are developing one trading card game! We aim to create a card collection game with games like one mix of Pokemon, Slay the Spire and Hearthstonecentered around different NFT card and a Cardano native token.

By using The $YUMMI tokenplayers will be able to collect card packs to assemble your decks! To get new cards you must open packs that can be purchased with $YUMMI tokens in store, each available for a limited time frame. When a new pack is released or a certain period of time has passed, the previous pack will be discontinued and only available through secondary marketsmaking supply limited and deflationary as people open them over time.

The game will consist of different ways to enjoy playing, such as Adventure Mode and Player vs. Player tournaments. Creating the perfect deck for fight against opponents will be the key to securing victory!

The game will be one Play to earn model, but it will also be Free to play! That means you don’t need to own Yummi Universe NFTs to start playing the game. We want as many people as possible to enjoy our game and join the community.

Games always have rewarded players with various progressions and items. Blockchain technology makes it possible to give players full custody of their earned assets. In that sense, we do not see much inherent difference between blockchain gaming and traditional games, but we recognize that it has led to new types of ecosystems which is classified as Play-to-Earn.

What does the future hold? Where do you see the Yummi universe in 1 and 5 years respectively?

Right now we are busy making one new paper and build a new websitein the meantime work on game development.

We have two different games in scope, while currently focusing our development on one at a time. We want to see this game fully released within a yearwhile the other game is well underway.

In 5 years we would like to have published more titles, but Yummi Universe is not just a game company. We have always been focused on making a positive impact as one brand focused on health, mental awareness and happiness. And with that we want to reach a larger audience at the same time as we expand the monster collection series to new media such as e.g. manga and TVwhile also exploring ways to decentralize our platform in various ways.
