Boring Monkey creators Yuga Labs warn of a huge “coordinated attack” on NFT society

NFT innovators Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club, have warned collectors that an attack on the wider NFT community from a “persistent threat group” may soon be on the way, making many collectors and fans vulnerable.

The NFT market soared back in 2020-2021 with investors spending millions of dollars on their digital jpeg files, with Yuga Labs’ Bored Ape Yacht Club as one of the most popular collections out there.

Now Yuga Labs has claimed that a “coordinated” group is planning to launch an attack on “several” NFT communities.

Yuga Labs warns of potential “attacks” on NFT communities

On July 18, Yuga Labs claimed that their sources had found a potential threat to the NFT community that could see different groups being targeted and affected.

“Our security team has tracked down a persistent threat group targeting the NFT community,” Yuga claimed. “We believe they can soon launch a coordinated attack targeting multiple communities via compromised social media accounts.”

It further begged collectors and investors to be vigilant about the situation in the coming days and to “stay safe.”

The tweet did not specify who started the alleged attack, the motivation behind it, or specific communities such as. Understandably, however, it triggered concern for the followers and their protection.

A Twitter user also asked if Yuga could “create a solution” with regard to “vault wallets” due to the high number of threats and attacks in the past.

This is not the first time Yuga has faced a potential threat from anti-NFT groups. In April 2022, hackers managed to steal millions of dollars worth of NFTs after breaking into the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Instagram account.

It is unclear when the attack will take place or which communities will directly affect it. However, it will undoubtedly be a stressful time for NFT owners everywhere, especially those who have the expensive blue chip collections.
